"Do we really need a big party fo this?" Remus asked, overwhelmed by the memo pad full of people. He flipped through the names, many of whom he couldn't even put a face to. "Seriously, Sirius, this is just a personal thing... we don't need every person you've ever shook hands with to come to this!"

"Why not?" Sirius asked. "This has to be a big party. Well, not a party. That sounds dumb. It's a celebration. This is a celebration of our marriage."

"It's a civil union," Remus corrected. "Same benefits, different name."

"What a load of shit!" Sirius exclaimed, getting up and beginning to pace around the room. "Civil union." He made it sound like a disease. "It sounds so stupid saying, 'Hey, guys, I'm civil unioned to Remus!' Saying, 'Hey, guys, I'm married to Remus!' sounds cooler.

Remus shook his head, bending down to scratch Sirius's dog behind the ear.

"Oh, just so you know, the dog's going to the unioning and the party."

"He's going with us? Sirius, I don't think he'll be allowed."

"Well, we can make up some story about him being my seeing eye dog and that I only know you from touching your face. I dare anyone to not allow the gay blind guy to get married to his true love."

Remus rolled his eyes, slightly touched. He could tell by now when Sirius was serious about something, and he knew that he was far from sarcastic when he said "true love."

"You can't act for your life. We all know that one."

"Ouch. Well, the dog's going to Jersey. End of story."

"Alright, alright, he'll come."

Sirius nodded as Remus turned back to the guest list. "Hold on," he said, raising his eyebrows, "I see a name on this list that starts with an Emily and ends with a Simpson."

Sirius nodded, clearly not seeing the big deal.

"No way in hell is the walking catalogue of plastic surgery going to my wedding."

"What's plastic surgery? Anyway, it's a thank you," Sirius said, rolling his eyes. "I'm glad you're calling it a wedding, by the way."

"What did she ever contribute?" Remus asked.

"It's simple. She helped me realize that I love you."
