A Goblin's Scribe's farewell
to
the man who gave us...
our King.

This isn't a story, not exactly. And it's not a tribute, I'll leave that to the ones who knew him far better than I.
What this is, is my farewell to the man who portrayed my Goblin King. He breathed life into a character that was flat on paper... I know, I've read the scripts. He gave us the playful, sexy, sometimes swarmy, and even a touch evil Jareth. There were so many things I saw that weren't tangible. Things that were hints. And you had to dig to get to the gold. You had to know that there was more than a pretty face there.
Jareth the Goblin King gave me dreams, and nightmares, and inspiration. And a title... okay, I took it for my own. I am one of the Goblin King's Scribes. A title I wear with pride and joy.
The death of David Bowie is sad, and I will mourn his passing. But I will celebrate the life and art of this wonderful performer. I will continue to enjoy Labyrinth. I will continue to write the stories here and in print. I will honor that memory.
Thank you David for the songs that you wrote for Labyrinth. Thank you for breathing life into Jareth, and giving me a place to jump off from to create beings like Quinn of Tarsi. Thank you for being a light on my path. I will see you when I cross the bridge, and toast the good health of my Goblin King. But for now, I bid you... farewell my darling.
In loving memory of
David Robert Jones
aka
David Bowie...
aka
Jareth the Goblin King.
