The bell rang and I hurriedly walked to my car while holding my hood up against the rain the whole time. When I got to my car I opened the door and slid onto my seat throwing my bag on the seat next to me and revving the engine so I could put on the heat. When it started to come on and I was fairly dry I backed out of my spot and drove home.

Just like always Edward was already waiting for me at my house and he was already opening my car door before I could even take the key out of the ignition.

"Thanks," I said grabbing my bag from across the seat. I started to walk towards the front door when Edward grabbed my arm.

"Where are you going?" he chuckled spinning me around so that I faced him.

"Inside, I have to start dinner for Charlie and-" Edward held up a beige piece of paper and handed it to me.

"Charlie is over at Jacob's house for dinner so that means you get to spend the night with me."

"Then why aren't we going inside?" I asked starting for the door again.

"Bella," I closed my eyes as he said my name; his voice was so smooth and relaxing and gentle and it was hypnotizing me, "why don't you come home with me tonight?"

"Edward, I have tons of homework tonight. I really couldn't," I said trying to tear my eyes away from his topaz ones. I wanted to go with him so badly, but I had so much homework….

"What if I offered to tutor you?" he said with a sly smile.

"I would decline," I said matter-of-factly and stared up at him.

"Fine," he said almost sounding defeated, but I could tell that he wouldn't be done with asking me to go with him; not yet at least. Edward loosened his hold on me and let me turn away from him towards the door. When we were inside I went up to my room to put my books away and then went to the kitchen.

"So," Edward began, "what do you have for homework?"

"Some history, some english."

"Bella, please, come with me, just for a little while. I'll take you home before Charlie gets home and even then you'll have enough time to do your homework. Even if you don't get it done you still have a study before both history and english." He had a point and I had nothing to fight back with…

"Let me just make dinner first. Okay?"

"Fine." I ended up making myself some pasta that I downed pretty fast, for me anyways.

At Edward's house we went to the backyard with all the lights on and I laid on the grass while Edward played my lullaby on the piano. After a while though, Edward came and joined me on the grass and I leaned my head on his hard body.

"Edward?" asked Carlisle from the sliding door.

"Hmm?" he replied.

"I brought home dinner…oh, hi, Bella, how are you?"

"I'm fine, thanks. How are you?"

"Good, thank you."

"Okay," said Edward, answering Carlisle's thought question.

We sat outside for a little while longer until I couldn't contain my curiosity any longer.

"What did Carlisle mean when he said that he brought you home dinner?"

"Sometimes Carlisle brings home the blood donations that are on the verge of going bad. He doesn't like to waste it."

"Oh, does that make it harder to resist people's blood then?"

"Not so much. The longer that it's not been circulated by the heart the less it's power, like it's been de-powered or depreciated. By that time it's almost as good as animal blood." His hand slid over and wrapped around mine. I was almost as cold as he was now.

"C'mon Bella, let me take you home. You're freezing." I didn't argue. I got up, Edward took me home, and I finished my homework. I slept well that night.
