Another Thomas rewrite, this time it's "Percy's New Whistle" from Season 8, with added lines by tate310. Enjoy and comment.
It was wintertime on the Island of Sodor. Thick blankets of snow covered all of the railroad tracks.
All the engines were working hard, taking passengers and winter goods from station to station.
Sometimes, the engines have to warn people that they are coming, so they blow their whistles, ring their bells, or toot their horns.
One day, Percy took some foolish freight cars to the smelters yard.
He whistled hello to 'Arry and Bert, but 'Arry and Bert laughed.
"What a stupid whistle!" mocked Bert.
"Diesels have better whistles than Steamies!" tooted 'Arry as he blew his horn loudly.
The noise was so loud, that Percy began to shake.
"Diesels are WAY better than Steamies!" they laughed.
This made Percy very cross.
"My whistle is better than yours!" snapped Percy as he puffed away.
Percy practiced blowing his whistle loudly all through the quiet countryside. He blew his whistle louder than ever before.
Later, he decided to surprise 'Arry and Bert.
He rolled up towards 'Arry and Bert, and blew his whistle very loudly.
'Arry and Bert were surprised.
"Told you that my whistle was better!" teased Percy.
Now that Percy had a super loud whistle, he decided to show all his friends.
First, he saw Thomas. He gave his whistle a very loud puff. causing him to bump into the freight cars!
Thomas was now crosser than ever.
"Look at what you've done!" snapped Thomas.
Percy didn't care. He was having too much fun.
Next, he saw Bertie the Bus. He gave his whistle a very loud puff. causing him to skid off the road, crashing into a snowbank!
"You've just caused an accident!" snapped Bertie.
But Percy didn't notice at all.
That evening, nobody said a word to Percy. They were all cross at him for all the confusion and delay he had caused.
"I'm sorry." he told his friends. "I won't do it again! I promise!"
But the next day, Percy was being cheeky again. He was bringing the milk train to the dairy.
"I wish I could blow my whistle loudly again." whispered Percy.
He didn't see any engines or people, but he did see some sheep.
Percy tooted his whistle louder than ever before, causing the sheep to run away!
Then, there was trouble. Percy's whistle had caused a large snowball to form from some log.
"Oh no!" cried Percy, as the snowball covered him in cold, icy snow from footplate to fender.
Luckily, no one was hurt.
Sir Topham Hatt arrived on Thomas. He was crosser than ever indeed.
"You have caused confusion and delay!" boomed Sir Topham Hatt. "Whistles are not toys, they are for safety!"
"Sorry sir!" said Percy.
"I shall think so too! If you use your whistle again for anything other than emergencies, you will be locked in your shed until you can learn to use your whistle properly!"
"Yes sir!" shivered Percy. He promised to use his whistle properly now.
The next day, Percy was quiet, and didn't use his whistle at all.
However, a large snowbank covered the tracks exiting the tunnel.
Then, Percy saw Thomas, who was heading straight for the snowbank!
Percy knew that this was the right time to use his whistle, so he blew his whistle the loudest of all.
Thomas stopped just in time!
"Thank you Percy!" said Thomas.
That night, Sir Topham Hatt came to Tidmouth Sheds.
"Well done Percy!" he boomed. "You used your whistle at the right time, and prevented Thomas from having a nasty accident. You are a really useful engine!"
Percy was so proud that his firebox fizzled. He had also learned to use his whistle properly now.
