With just one week till Christmas, in Station Square Park,
While couples admired bright lights in the dark,
A pink hedgehog girl walked through the snow all alone,
And sat next to no one on a bench made of stone.
She frowned and looked down at her pigeon-toed feet,
Disappointed with love, ever so bittersweet.
"He always avoids my affections, but why?
"Am I too assertive? Is he just too shy?"
Then came a soft voice, like a bolt from the blue,
"Cheer up, Amy I brought a small present for you."
She jumped and discovered her hero behind
There stood Sonic the Hedgehog, his smile warm and kind.
He held in his hand a bewitching blue box,
Too big for a ring but too little for socks.
"Oh, Sonic!" she said as she hopped past the bench,
Intent on ensnaring him snug in her clench.
But the way he reacted was all but foretold;
She caught naught but her gift by its ribbon of gold.
"See ya later!" he yelled as he dashed out of sight.
"Wait, Sonic, please stay! Don't be so impolite!"
Alone yet again, she looked down at her gift;
The prospect of presents gave her quite a lift!
She unraveled the ribbon and lifted the lid,
Excited to see just what secret it hid.
But inside she found only a folded up note;
Nonplussed, she unfurled it and read what he wrote.
"There's something amazing you've gotta come see!
"I'll be waiting for you at the tallest oak tree."
With her heart all aflutter, she started her search,
And although she could not tell an oak from a birch,
Her talent for tracking down Sonic was great
In the blink of an eye, she arrived for her date.
The tree was titanic, but empty below,
And its evergreen branches were covered with snow.
She circled the trunk as she blithely called out,
"Don't hide from me, Sonic! What's this all about?"
And then somebody snatched her right off of the ground
She shrieked and was hauled to the top in one bound!
"Merry Christmas, Amy," a familiar voice said,
And joy swiftly took over her feeling of dread.
She embraced her beloved blue boyfriend and cried,
"Don't scare me like that! I practically died!"
But Sonic just grinned like no thing was amiss.
"I'm sorry, Amy, but here look at this."
From their perch they could see all the city's swell sights,
All the festive adornments and colorful lights.
And they suddenly felt like their troubles had passed,
With just one week till Christmas, together at last.
