Nick smiled as he and Sara sat at the break room table and slide pictures back and forth. Both were laughing and telling stories when Nick's cell phone rang. He checked the caller ID and stood up to answer it.

"Hey" Nick said softly

"Hey" Catherine replied

"Everything ok?"

"Yea. Just getting the girls ready to go over to moms and Grace wanted to ask you a question. You got time for a four year old?"

"Always"

Nick waited as Catherine handed the phone to their daughter.

"Hi daddy" Grace said softly

"Hey baby" Nick replied

"Why you and mama not married?"

"Well that's a big question for a little girl"

"You love me and Lindsey?"

"Of course I do little girl. I love all my girls very much. How about me and mommy talk to you about your question tomorrow night. Ok?"

"Ok. You tuck me in?"

"No baby. Daddy has to work tonight. Mommy is going to take you and Lindsey to Grandma Lily's for a sleepover. But we will be with you tomorrow night"

"Love you daddy"

"Love you too my little firefly"

Nick listened as the phone was handed back to Catherine.

"Well that was a loaded question" Nick said

"I know. We can talk when I get in." Catherine replied

"Love you"

"Love you too"

Nick hung up and sat down with a sigh. Sara looked up at him and quirked an eyebrow.

"My four year old daughter just asked me why me and her mother are not married" Nick said softly

"Wow" Sara replied "Why aren't you?"

"I honestly have no idea. I have to go check on my lab results. And when Catherine gets in I have to have a very uncomfortable conversation."

Sara smiled and waved as he left. A few hours later Nick smiled as he sat next to Catherine in her office.

"So who brought marriage to Graces attention" Nick asked

"She and Lindsey were looking at catalogues today and ran across an ad for engagement rings." Catherine replied

"Why aren't we married?"

"Come on. Nicky"

"Catherine…"

"I don't want to risk divorce again. We are happy. We have two great girls. A great relationship, why ruin what we have right now"

"We could be happier. I love you Catherine. I love our life and I love the girls. But I would be lying if I said I didn't want just a little bit more"

"It would be nice to pit a ring on your finger to mark you as mine so witnesses stopped hitting on you"

"Just think about it"

Catherine nodded and kissed Nick softly before they both got up and went back to work. After work, Nick smiled as he and Catherine quietly walked into their house. Both showered before cuddling on the couch.

"We have to go get the girls in a couple of hours" Catherine said softly

"Marry me Catherine" Nick replied

"I'm scared Nick. Look at my past. Marriage did not work out so well for me and Lindsey got caught in the middle"

"I love you Catherine. I will always love you. We have been living together for over four years. The only change marriage would brine would be rings and a legal document"

"I seriously hate it when your right."

"Marry me Catherine"

"Yes"

Nick smiled as he kissed Catherine softly.
