Rima thought that she'd hate Fujisaki Nadeshiko; no, she was sure that she would hate her.
Because Nadeshiko was Amu's best friend and was the Queen's-Chair before Rima. And everyone liked her, not just the boys, but the girls too. She as respected, and popular and liked by them all.
Rima should hate her, but she doesn't; They'd only met a few times, but Rima really, really liked her.
Funny how these things work out, huh?
Rima was sure that she hated her ''brother'', Fujisaki Nagihiko, too.
But now she's not so sure ...
It's strange; when they're not arguing, they're usually just polite to each other. Sometimes they completely ignore each other. They're even almost-friendly sometimes!
Then, there are the days when it seems like he's flirting with her; buying her a parafit, finding an excuse to brush a strand of hair out of her eyes, or staring down at her, those big brown eyes of his shining.
Those days, Rima has to try and hide her blush. She has to clench her fists, grind her teeth together and insult him so he gets the message and goes away. Because Rima can feel herself falling for him; falling for cross-dresser and his stupid hair, and stupid chocolate eyes and stupid smile and stupid dancing and ugh!
Rima's not stupid; she knows that these things never work out. Look at Tadase and Amu, and her parents.
Rima doesn't want love, not if it ends up with more pain.
She tries to hate Fujisaki Nagihiko, hoping that she can squash her feelings. Stop smiling when their eyes meet, stop blushing when they're hands brush and everything else.
With Nadeshiko though ... she can pretend that the way she feels is 100% platonic - she knows that she's straight, and anyway, Nadeshiko is too polite, innocent and giggly to even try and flirt with the short blonde girl. It's easier to trick herself into thinking that she only likes Fujisaki as a friend with her.
Nadeshiko is Rima's guilty-pleasure. Rima can hug her, hang out with her, even purify X-Eggs with her and dance together. The things she wishes that she could do with Nagihiko.
Rima can open up to Nadeshiko; she can confide in her, about how she feels about her parent's divorce and the other, more personal things that she doesn't tell Nagihiko. Rima knows that Nagihiko wouldn't tell anyone the things she tells Nadeshiko ... but, she doesn't know if she should tell Nagihiko himself. It would hurt, so much more, if he laughed at her, or worse, called her weak.
Nadeshiko wouldn't ever say those things to her ... and even if she did, it would be Nadeshiko. Not Nagihiko. It wouldn't be the same.
Because Nadeshiko and Nagihiko aren't the same.
Yet, they are ...
It's complicated.
Rima may seem strong and brave on the outside ... but inside, she's a scared and broken little-girl who hasn't seen love in a long time. And she knows that opening up to Nagihiko and having him break her heart would kill her.
So for now, she's just going to stick with Nadeshiko.
Her guilty-pleasure.
