Roses
Ron Weasley was always fond of roses. Ever since he was a little boy, and he saw his Father presenting them to his Mother on Valentines day, he had loved them. He wasn't sure what it was that he liked about them, but they intrigued him.
When he began dating Lavender in sixth year, his Father suggested he buy her a bunch of roses for Valentines day, as all girls love flowers. He thought about it, but decided against it when he remembered Hermione saying how roses were her favourite flower. He felt like he was betraying her if he bought Lavender roses. So he didn't.
Sure enough, Lavender was mad at him.
When Lavender broke up with him, Ron was very happy. Him and Hermione were back to normal, and everything was good. Hermione even seemed closer to him, and as he comforted her at Dumbledore's funeral, he caught a whiff of her hair.
Roses.
At Bill and Fleurs wedding, roses were on every table. Only two or three. He had the urge to offer one to Hermione, but he wasn't quite there yet.
So instead he asked her to dance. And they danced.
Once he returned after leaving them, she was mad at him. He couldn't blame her. He had walked out on her. When he was walking, collecting mushrooms, he saw a small bunch of roses, and decided to get them for her.
He cut his finger on the thorns.
After the war had ended, he was dating Hermione. Officially. He would hold her hand, hold her, and kiss her whenever he felt like it. And the best part was, she didn't seem to care. On their first Valentines as a couple, he bought her a bunch of roses, just like his Dad had bought his Mum.
She cried when he gave them to her.
On the 8th August 2002, he proposed to Hermione. He had set up a midnight picnic, and had decorated the trees with gold fairy lights. He had prepared a basket of sandwiches and cakes. And the best bit of all, he had scatted rose petals all over the blanket.
He cried when she said yes.
On their wedding day, she wore roses. Pure white roses in her hair, making a sort of rose crown. They matched her dress. She couldn't have looked more beautiful in his eyes, the roses being the finishing touch. When she had taken his hand, he had nearly started crying.
He had married Hermione Granger.
When she had announced she was pregnant, he was over-joyed. He couldn't believe that he was going to be a Father. He grabbed her around the waist, and spun her around. He then grabbed his wand, and made a dozen roses appear, and handed them to her, telling her he would always love her.
And he always did.
When their daughter was born, he bought her a single rose. It was fresh and beautiful, and told her everything that he was feeling. He put it on her bedside table, and cried as he looked down at his daughters ginger head. He leaned down and kissed her, and she told him she had a name in mind.
He told her he thought it was perfect.
