AN: Thanks so much to everyone that reviewed That Thing You Do! It inspired me to write a little follow up of sorts, in which the tables were turned. And in case any of you think I've made poor Lupin a little less manly than usual, please observe a man with a common cold. It's sick really (if you can pardon that pun) how whiney they can be. lol.

and to LemilyLee... thanks for the heads up on my mistake. Fixed now. Ooops. :)

While You Were Sleeping

"Dora?"

(….)

"Dora?"

(………)

"Dora? Nymphadora! Tonks! Dora!"

(……………)

"DORA!"

"Where are they? Where are they? I'll kill 'em all! Let me at 'em!"

"It's alright, Dora. It's only me."

"You? Oh… I had… a dream… death eaters… never mind… back to sleep…"

"No! Wake up! I have to ask you something. It's important."

"What?"

"Am I hot?"

(... …)

"Now, Remus? It's the middle of the bloody night. And I have a headache."

"I'm not asking you to… oh for the love of Merlin, Nymphadora! I meant, am I hot? As in, do I have a fever?"

(… ...)

"No, but you're a touch lumpy."

"That's the pillow."

"Oh."

(… ...)

"Oh no you don't, drifting back off to sleep! This is important! I think I'm getting sick!"

"Mmmmph blugggggrrrrnnn ellllll…"

"What?"

"I said, buggering hell! You better have West African Wizarding Flu, the way you're carrying on."

"You'd feel bad if I did."

"You're a bit warm, all right? It's probably just a cold. Take something and go back to sleep."

"What should I take?"

"I don't know Remus! Do I look like a sodden healer?"

"Do you think I need to see a healer?"

"…Remus. Listen. To. Me. Go back to sleep. You're going to be fine, I promise. You'll feel better in the morning."

"Fine. I'll just lay here and suffer."

"Fine."

"Fine."

"Dora?"

(…)

"Dora?"

(……….)

"Bleedin' hell, Remus!"

"Oh, are you awake?"

"Am I awake? You shoved me! What do you mean am I awake?"

"Well… since you're up… I feel warmer now than I did before and my throat hurts and my nose is doing that strange hollowed-out, numb, burning thing that always happens when I start to get really sick and… Dora, are you listening?"

"Oh yes… every word… warm nose… hollow throat…"

"Nymphadora!"

"Merlin's pants, Remus! Do you know how long it's been since I've slept? If you wake the baby, I swear… Oh all right then. C'mere. I'll make it better."

"How're you gonna..."

(... … … …)

(… … … … … … …)

"Not that I don't like this turn of events, but what are you doing?"

"I'm making it better. Now shut up."

(... … … … … … … … … … … …)

"You're going to catch this."

"That's the idea. I'm going to get sick with you, that way we'll both be miserable together. Then, of course, you won't feel so alone. If you don't feel so alone then you won't whine nearly as much. And if you don't whine, then I get to sleep in between Teddy's feedings."

"That's so illogical it's almost clever."

"I know. I should have been in Ravenclaw."

"Somehow I doubt you snogging me to catch my cold is what the sorting hat foresaw when it was putting you in a house."

"I'd rather not think about the founding fathers of Hogwarts foreseeing anything to do with our snogging, if you don't mind. Now go back to sleep. With any luck, we'll both wake up in the morning feeling like shite."

"There's a sentence you don't hear everyday."

"You're never going to hear anything ever again if you don't SHUT UP AND LET ME GO BACK TO SLEEP!"

(… … … …)

"Well now look what you've done. You've woken the baby. Well... it is your turn, Dora."

(… …)

"Ow! My nose!"

"Doesn't feel quite so numb anymore, does it?"
