I wrote this a really long time ago and just now got around to re-posting it here.
Five Time Parker Lied to Eliot...
Lie #1:
"Did you take my wallet?"
"No."
Lie #2:
"Where's my paring knife?"
"I don't know. Maybe the Knife Fairy took it."
Lie #3:
"Parker, did you steal the Blue Carbuncle from the Doyle Museum last week?"
"Ummm, no. I don't know anything about that. What's the Blue Carbuncle?"
Lie #4:
"Nate wore your boots last night and lost one in an air vent, I mean, in a sewer on the way home, I mean, to his place. Because he was drunk. Really, really drunk. He says he's sorry. And he doesn't remember it."
"Dammit, Parker!"
Lie # 5:
"I don't care! I don't care! I think you're mean. You're meaner than the Grinch!"
"Parker, take the medicine and you'll feel better. I promise."
"NO! It tastes nasty. I hate you. I don't need you."
...And One Time She Didn't
Not-A-Lie #1:
"You always have my back, and make sure no one hurts me, and you're always there to catch me when I fall, and I…I need you. I need you, so please, please, wake up. Eliot, please. Because I, I- "
Eyes twitch under bruised lids. A groan.
