A/n once again the Muse Adele hated the CM cliffhanger and she tempted me with an alternate ending. Please enjoy. If you didn't already know, spoilers ahead.
Reid burst through the doors to the stairs and stopped in disbelief and shock as he saw Quinn slumped near the elevator, Agent Meadows in handcuffs and two other men held at gunpoint by none other than Timothy McGee. Another man, with silver hair that looked like it had once been Marine regulation, but had grown out a bit, who had steely blue eyes bent over Quinn with his hands pressed to a gunshot wound in his belly.
"Tim," Reid said, in utter surprise. "What the hell?"
Garcia hurried from between two black SUVs and hugged him tight enough to make him squirm. "Spencer," she gasped. "It was Agent Meadows. She's the cultist."
"You won't stop us," said Meadows defiantly. "There are more on the way."
"I heard the shot and ran down alone," Spencer said. "We need backup and medical."
"Already done," Garcia held up her phone.
"Good," said the silver-haired man.
"How did you know?" Spencer asked, bewildered.
"We're here to transport a fugitive, one Petty Officer Linden. The FBI found her first and called us. We'd just arrived when the elevator opened as we were getting out of our vehicle. Gibbs noticed that Meadows had a gun on Penelope, but no cuffs. Gibbs thought we better step in when these two," he pointed at the men he held at gunpoint. "Got out of their car with guns."
"Didn't look right," Gibbs said. "Knew they weren't FBI."
Spencer stared at him then said to Tim. "I assume he's Leroy Jethro Gibbs, the one you talk about constantly."
Gibbs gave Tim a look that made the younger man wince. "Ah, yeah, um, Gibbs, this is SSA Dr. Spencer Reid of the BAU."
"We'll talk later there's our back up and medical," Tim said as the wail of sirens grew in the distance, and the doors to the elevator opened to disgorge six agents with their guns drawn.
"Thanks," Reid said to McGee as Meadows stared at them with impotent rage and something that made Reid shiver a little.
"You're welcome," Tim said. "I like Penelope."
"Haven't seen you since the beard," Reid said. "Nice look."
"You too," Tim said.
Reid shrugged. "There was a time when I shaved every day, and now it seems like too much trouble."
"I hear that."
Approaching sirens and the ding of the elevator proved to be the backup they needed. "Guess it's time for paperwork," Tim smirked.
"Better paperwork then the alternative."
Tim slapped him on the back. "You haven't seen the twins yet. Come over for dinner this weekend. Delilah misses seeing you."
"I will," Reid promised. "Thanks again, Tim."
"You're welcome, now let's finish this and go home."
"I couldn't agree more."
