I glanced at Wally's puffy red eyes and then looked back at the TV. Jeff Dunham was on right now, but clearly something was wrong with Wals. This guy was his absolute favorite, but right now he just stared blankly at the screen, not laughing, not smiling, not doing anything.
"Are you o-," I had just detonated Wally's special bomb of emotions. Here comes the world's biggest wave. Here's the longest waterfall. Not saying he was gonna cry… he just was going to tell me everything that was upsetting him in one fell swoop, and honestly I'm not sure I was prepared for it.
"He was with another girl dude, A GIRL. I was waiting for him outside the movie theater and he was with a FREAKIN' GIRL. What, did I suddenly not become a not for him? Did he suddenly NOT like guys? What did I do wrong, why did he have to go flirt with that JERSEY SHORE WHORE….why…" He started breaking up into incomprehensible sobs, tears just pouring out of his eyes. I probably didn't even know the whole story. Had he even talked to Roy about what he saw?
"Umm.. Wals .. Did you.. by chance …talk to Roy?" I asked while shaking his shoulder a bit to get him out of his crying fit.
"Of course I talked to him, and do you know what he said? He called me his bro and acted like we were just friends while he went to see a chick flick with that bitch! That was our FOURTH DATE! We were gonna see Cowboys vs. Aliens…" Wals drifted, again, into his quiet sobs, saying things that meant nothing to my ears.
"I know you're upset but-"
"You know another weird thing? After he walked into the theater with her, I tasted something in my mouth… like I had just had dried tears… and ice cream. Thing is, I haven't had ice cream for a few days, but I had cried. I was crying…for him… for us. Tomorrow he'll probably call me and say how sorry he is and.. I'll probably fall for it. I'll probably say I forgive you and just run back." By now the TV had become completely ignored, all I needed to do now was to help my bro out.
"If he comes crawling back to you, tell me. I'll kick his sorry ass for making you cry like this. He doesn't deserve you, you're too… too awesome for Roy. Just… don't fall for it, ok? We all need you in one piece for the team. There are plenty of other fish in the sea anyways."
Wally had dried his tears and was now looking at me as if he had just made the most important discovery in the world and wasn't happy about it. "…Like you?"
"… Y-yeah Wals. Like me."
And that was how our awesome relationship began.
