"I don't like you dating Muro-chin."
"Ah?" Akashi's face held pleasant surprise, the expression of someone who isn't expecting a turn of events but has already figured out how to handle every single possible outcome. "Why do you say that, Atsushi?"
"Hmm." Murasakibara had on a visible pout as he chewed. Himuro had bought along several bags of snacks to bide Murasakibara by the time it took him to order their food. The tall first year had already eaten his way through two of the bags, though Himuro had only been gone for a few minutes. "Well, for one…I like to play with Muro-chin after school and…it's not the same with Aka-chin."
"Understandable." After all, this too was one of Murasakibara's afterschool 'play' times with Himuro – often consisting of eating snacks in different places – and today, Akashi had also appeared and insisted on coming along. "And?"
"But Aka-chin doesn't want to be left out either. And I can't say no to Aka-chin." Murasakibara paused in his munching, clearly troubled. "And after Muro-chin spends time with Aka-chin, he can't walk straight and he's always tired and doesn't want to play with me."
"Hmm."
"Muro-chin gets mad at me when I point out his bug bites and bruises he has from accidents."
"Yes, well that really isn't something to mention, Atsushi."
"So I don't like it that you're dating Muro-chin." Murasakibara gave Akashi a guilty look over potato chips. "Sorry, Aka-chin, but that's what I think…there's no one to play with otherwise…Muro-chin's my best friend at school…"
Akashi stared at him across the table. "So it's a problem about having a playmate, is it?" Murasakibara nodded while popping another chip in his mouth. "That isn't hard to solve. Why don't we trade? I'll lend you one of my friends if you'll give me Muro-chin."
Murasakibara looked interested. "Who? Will he want to play with me?"
"Of course he will. He's just as old as Tatsuya and they look alike." He smiled genteelly and extended his hand. "I'll give you his contacts and you can call him whenever I want Tatsuya. How does that sound?"
"You're the best, Aka-chin," Murasakibara agreed, fishing a phone out of his bag and letting Akashi program a number in it. "Will he like me?" he asked as Akashi slid the phone back across the table, nibbling curiously and staring at the number of Mibuchi Leo on his phone. "Mi-chin?"
"Yes." Akashi gave him a winning smile, more victory than happiness. Himuro came back in the middle of this exchange, bearing a tray of food.
"I'm not sure if I got enough for you, Atsushi," he said, setting the tray down, "but we can always get more. I didn't know what you wanted, Akashi, but I hope it's okay."
"That's alright, Tatsuya," Akashi hummed, smiling briefly as Himuro flushed at his name. "But Atsushi had something come up, so he can't stay with us, right, Atsushi?"
Akashi had a predatory look on his face that Himuro did not recognize. Murasakibara stifled a whine; he wanted to play with Muro-chin some after school before he went to play with Akashi. But Akashi's word was law, and hadn't Akashi given him someone to play with instead anyway? "I have someone else to play with," he said vaguely, collecting his armful of food from Himuro. "I'll see you later, Muro-chin, Aka-chin…" Lumbering out of the place, Murasakibara ignored Akashi pulling Himuro down next to him and called Akashi's substitute.
"Mi-chin? Aka-chin says to play with me…"
