Disclaimer: I do not own any of the X-men characters, or the X-men themselves.
Bobby looked at the façade of his new school, with a large amount of nerves. All around him a mix of children and teenagers where screaming, laughing and greeting each other. Bobby could immediately pick out the newcomers – like himself- from their nervous shuffling and the fact they all stood apart from the rest of the other students.
Bobby himself was unsure of the school himself. He was only eight years old, and yet here he was at a boarding school for kids with 'Talents'. Is parent's didn't know that of course. They thought he was just going to a Prep school, to become a member of high society. Looking around himself again Bobby was unsure of how he was going to be able to deal with all this.
Suddenly a boy with Blondie-brown hair, walked over to him. The boy was clearly in Bobby's year, and judging by the fact he was on his own, was new too. The boy grinned at Bobby and extended a hand.
"I'm John Allderdyce" He said. Bobby took his hand, gave it a slight shake and then said to him;
"I'm Bobby"
"Are you new?" John asked Bobby. Bobby nodded and gave John an inquiring look.
"Same here" John continued "Professor Xavier appeared at my house in the holiday and told me I was 'special'. Then he told me… no told me that I had a place here. Just like that" John clicked his fingers "And then he left!"
"Same here" Bobby replied "Talk about weird!" For some reason Bobby felt like he could trust this strange, energetic boy and they quickly became friends.
While they waited to be shown to their rooms John and Bobby talked a lot about their families and them selves. Bobby soon found out hat John had a powerful hatred of his family, feelings which his family had apparently reflected but about him. They eventually arrived at a question which Bobby had been dreading, since he arrived at this school.
"So…" John said "What's your power, ability whatever you want to call it?" He looked at Bobby expectantly.
"Tell me yours first." Bobby demanded, desperately trying to avoid the question, though curious despite himself, to see what his new friend's power was.
"Fine" John said pulling out silver lighter. Flicking off the lid, he turned it on. Then he held out his palm and the flame flickered off the lighter over to his outstretched hand. Bobby stared at the tiny, flickering flame in a mixture of surprise and amazement.
"WOW!" Bobby said, still staring at the small flame on John's palm. He looked up and with a slight smile said "My turn!" Before John could react he sent a small stream of ice out, aimed at the still flickering flame on John's palm. When the stream came into contact with the fire, the flame froze instantly and fell to the floor shattering on impact.
Bobby could help smiling at the look on his new friend's face and thought; "He has fire and I have ice, this will be an interesting friendship…"
A/N: I hope you liked this story I was thinking about how Bobby meets John and came up with this. I would appreciate comments, even flames!
