Introduction

I walked down the road with clenched teeth. The road was cold on my bare feet. Several cars passed by, passed me. I started walking slower as the freezing weather weakened me. I started breathing heavily and puffs of fog clouded my view. I hugged myself while imagining myself at home in front of the fire. The thought passed quickly when a truck drove by causing another wave of melting snow to hit me. I shut my eyes and let the pain sink in before I started walking again. I could feel my body going numb, but I knew I had to keep walking. If I stopped then I definitely wouldn't make it, and I wasn't ready to give up. My determination wasn't enough though, my sight became blurry and soon I couldn't walk. I sat on the side of the road constantly wiping my tears. I crawled into the woods hoping that would be warmer than the concrete. I curled up under a tree and tried to cover myself in leaves. I was desperate for warmth. I looked at the ground and traced a massive paw print with my fingers. My fingers slowly stopped moving and soon I couldn't move anything. I shut my eyes and waited to die. I heard something walking towards me, then everything went black.
