Marui Bunta/Niou Masaharu

Prompt: Calculator

Title: Worth It

"Psst, Niou," Marui called softly. "Can I borrow your calculator?"

"Why? You should have your own, you know," Niou whispered back. "And shut up, or else the Hanamura-sensai will give us zeros on our tests, you know."
"Well, maybe my little brothers took it and broke it trying to change the channel with it. I just need it for a minute, please?" Marui was getting impatient. He couldn't solve the problems without a calculator and Niou was sitting right in front of him, done his test, playing games with his.

"Maybe you shouldn't have let them borrow it. Why were the brothers of a "tensai" stupid enough to think a calculator was a remote, anyway?" Niou replied. He accidentally lost a life trying to talk and kill the boss of the game and cursed.

"I thought they actually needed it for homework. That's what 'Tami said, anyway. It turns out he just wanted to see if Kaoru would believe that it was the new Wiimote. Please let me borrow it, or I'm going to fail this test," Marui would be on his hands and knees if he wasn't slouching at his desk.

"Fine, fine. But in exchange~" Niou grinned.

Marui groaned. When Niou smiled like that, good things never happened. He braced himself for what was coming.

"You have to go on a date with me," the Trickster finished. He handed the calculator to the stunned looking redhead behind him. "Now finish your test before she catches us talking."

"Too late," Hanamura-sensai was right in front of them, glaring. "Marui-kun, give me your test. Niou-kun, Marui-kun, a week of detentions and you both get zeros. The rest of you," she looked around at the class, "let this be an example of why you shouldn't talk during tests."

Marui groaned again, while Niou scowled. "I told you we were going to get caught, Marui."

"It wouldn't have happened if you had just given me your calculator when I asked, you know," Marui retorted. "Now we have a week of detention and my parents are going to be furious."

Niou snickered a bit at that. "You still have to go on a date with me though, got it?"

"If I'm still alive after the laps Yukimura and Sanada are going to give us for skipping practice for detention, you mean," Marui corrected.

"There are ways to get out of detention and into practice, Marui. I guess you'll need to learn a few tonight," Niou responded nonchalantly.

"Just make sure that Yukimura and Sanada don't lap us to death, and I'll be fine, kay?" the redhead responded. Just then, the bell rang dismissing them to lunch. Marui jumped out of his desk and grinned, waiting for Niou to put away his things before walking out of the classroom with everyone else. "Let's go before there's not enough room to eat, so hurry up, okay?"

As they ate with everyone else, Niou mentally relished in his victory. Sure, it hadn't been easy getting Marui's little brothers to agree to help and he and Marui got zeros on their math tests, but it was worth it to get a date with the feisty volleyer.
