She took one deep breath in.
It smelt so nice.
And then, she exhaled.
"Why are you smiling?" a voice asked. Tifa glanced down toward the head that lay on her stomach and ran her fingers through his hair.
"There's no real reason not to," she answered, "You're here."
"No need to stroke my ego, Tifa," he took her hand from his long black locks and brushed his lips across her knuckles briefly, making her giggle. She turned her attention toward the white lily next to her, and touched it with her free hand delicately. Her fingers traced the flower in a small pattern; up, down, and repeat.
"Cloud's so lucky…" she slightly grimaced, "he gets to come here all the time… And he gets to see her…"
"You'd rather spend time with her instead of me? I'm hurt," he gasped, playfully of course. She poked him with her hand that was with his.
"Well… She probably wouldn't use me as a pillow… But she's probably off with Cloud right now so…" Tifa mused, "I guess you'll do."
"Ouch."
"Love is pain," she countered him. He laughed almost angelically and it seemed to echo throughout the field of emptiness in which they resided.
"Mhm…" he murmured, sitting up one second and towering over her the next, "But it's a wonderful thing."
"I agree," she giggled as he pressed his lips against hers. She placed her palm against his cheek and stroked it slowly with her thumb, a tingling sensation filling her at the touch of his skin and its warmth. He slowly lifted her up and sat her on his lap, still kissing her all the while. He removed his glove before running his fingers up and down her arm, feeling her soft skin against his.
"I have to leave soon…" he murmured under her lips. She stopped, not moving an inch.
"Do you…?" she frowned. He pressed another kiss against her lips, causing her to giggle again.
"I do," he answered, "Feel free to dream of me until we can get back here again though."
She sighed, "I always do… And you know that."
He chuckled softly, picking a white lily from the flowerbed and tucking it behind her ear, "And I'm glad you do."
She pressed one last kiss on his lips before closing her eyes, "Bye…"
"Don't pout… It makes me not want to leave even more…" he mumbled, "See you around, Tifa."
She smiled before opening her eyes, the smell of the city air filling her room as the scent of him and the flowers slowly disappeared.
"Tifa…?" A distant voice called. Tifa sat up and turned her gaze to her bedroom door. Denzel stepped in.
"Hey Denzel. What's up?" she asked, a yawn following shortly after.
"Me and Marlene made you breakfast. You gonna come down?" he asked. She nodded.
"I'll just be a minute."
"Ok," he grinned, and left, closing the door behind him. Tifa leaned back onto her headboard and sighed. She tucked some stray locks of hair behind her ear, only to knock a white lily onto her lap. She chuckled to herself before picking it up, spinning it over and over, her grand smile resurfacing.
"See you around, Zack."
