Prologue

This story starts with a girl named Alexandra May Jameson. May, as she was called by her friends, was one of those that stood out in a crowd. This was perhaps because she was a strange child; in fact, she is very similar to Luna Lovegood. It isn't just because she also has blonde hair, because her hair is a good deal lighter than Luna's, and it isn't her eyes; they are a deep green. Their greatest similarities are a quiet personality and odd behavior, and their tendencies for odd accessories.. But it not only started with May; it also began on a cold, November night in North Carolina…

A cold, sickly, man ran through the street. This was a simply dreadful street; it was empty and cold and wet, and had a darkness emitting from it. He was running from something someone, and had no desire to learn whom the being was. This let you know something was wrong instantly, as Jared Jameson was a daring man, full of nerve. A growl was heard behind the terrified man, making him run faster than he ever had before. A voice like nails on a chalkboard filled the lonely street. "Why are you running, Son of Apollo? You are already weak; why risk it? Your little daughter will not be safe from the claws of The Terror of Dre-"

"LEAVE THEM ALONE, YOU FILTHY LITTLE BEAST!

A girl with auburn hair, appearing to be about 12, jumped out onto the street. She shot arrow after arrow at the beast who was cloaked in a thick fog. Seeing this girl caused Jared to hurry faster (if possible!) and clutch his daughter to his chest more so than before. While the weak and weary man hurried down the street, Artemis hurried to stand between the beast in the mist and her nephew and his daughter. Artemis shot arrow after arrow as the monster came into view. Have you ever seen the Balrog from The Lord of the Rings? This beast, while much smaller, was very similar to the Balrog. You can imagine Artemis' surprize at seeing a creature from a film in front of her. The creature gave her what appeared to be a smirk. His horrible voice penetrated through the darkness, even more so than the light (not exactly flame) emitted from his figure. "I see you are shocked at my appearance. Is there nothing else you wish to express, besides your loyalty to your nephew and the spawn of a Titan?"

Artemis shot an arrow, putting power into the shot even as it flew towards the creature. The creature's smirk expanded as the the arrow was nearing his head, and then the monster disappeared into the mist. Artemis' howl rang through the night.
