A/N: This little story is based on the first two lines of Sara Teasdale's "Advice to a Girl."

"No one worth possessing

Can be quite possessed;"

He could never think of her as his possession. She's too innocent for that, too beautiful. He doesn't want to be the one to take the sparkle from her beautiful green eyes. And he knows that if he possessed her, he would eventually be the cause of her sadness. He might not come back one day, and she would be distraught. He can't handle that. Can't handle the thought of knowing that if she were his, he would hold that kind of power over her.

He never wanted to possess her. She is of her own free mind and will. He doesn't want to taint her fragile body with his harsh demeanor, doesn't want to mar her beauty by his ugliness.

Being possessed is something that he could never associate her with. Someone as amazing as she shouldn't be possessed by someone such as he, by anyone. For he always heard that no one worth possessing can be quite possessed.

He'll settle for loving her instead.
