Picture

Yuuki Juudai lay on the floor with a sheet of paper and crayons spread all around him. His small hands grasped the crayon as he scribbled furiously on the white sheet of paper. His tongue was stuck out in concentration.

"What are you doing Juudia," a spirit materialized before the boy, trying to get a look at the paper.

"Yubel!," he cried in surprise as he frantically tried to flip the paper over and lay on it, "you can't look yet."

"Okay," Yubel said as she situated herself with her back to the picture and began to run her fingers through his hair. She couldn't actually feel it and neither could he; she wasn't tangible just visible to him. It didn't matter to her she still remember how his hair had felt in her fingers years ago.

Juudai wasn't satisfied with the arrangement yet. He got up off the floor, picture clutched to his chest, and made his way over to his backpack in the corner. He rummaged through it before pulling out a folder. Satisfied he settled himself back down next to Yubel and set up the folder to block her view.

Yubel just smiled in amusement at his antics, and resumed running her fingers through his hair when he came back.

Juudia picked the crayon back up and began to scribble yet again. His tongue wormed its way out in concentration, and his legs began to rhythmically kick back and forth.

"Yubel?" he called softly

"Mmmm?" she responded

"How do you write 'my family'?" he asked.

"Hide your picture. Then get a piece of paper that I can look at and I'll show you."

"Ok."

He stuck the picture in the folder before closing it and went over to his desk. He grabbed a sheet of paper, and picked up a red crayon from the floor before lying next to where Yubel was sitting.

Yubel traced the shapes of the kana with his finger tips as Juudai matched her strokes with his crayon. She would then help him fix his characters if he wrote the wrong one, added a stroke, or forgot a stroke.

"Thanks Yubel! It's almost done."

Juudai turned himself around on the floor and set up the folder before placing his drawing on the ground. He then laid the sheet with the kana before him and began to copy. When he was done he sat up and brought the picture over to Yubel.

"I made this for you," he held it in front of her acting as her hands.

Yubel looked at the picture. She wasn't surprised to see My Family written in the six-year-old's messy scrawl, but what was in the picture through surprised her. It was her and Juudai and Juudai's house.

"Juudai, why aren't your parents in here? Aren't they your family?"

Juudai squirmed slightly like he was guilty before replying, "well they're never home, and your always taking care of me and becoming tan- tan- touchable when I get hurt or can't reach something, or really need a hug."

"Juudai," Yubel almost whispered touched. She became tangible, and wrapped the boy in a hug, "Don't ever change," she whispered into his soft brown hair.
