"What are you doing out this late?"

"Back at you."

"Hmph! I asked you first."

"I was looking for you. Now, why are you out?"

"I always sit here at this time of night. Helps clear my head after hearing your constant fights with Storm all day..."

"Need to take a breather from that, huh? I don't blame you. I can use a break myself sometimes."

"Like now?"

"I suppose."

"Care to join me? There might be enough room on the branch."

"Don't act stupid. Even I can see that there's enough room on the branch."

Thmp, thmp, thmp.

Rustle, rustle.

Sigh.

"Something wrong?"

"Since when do you care?"

"Since now."

"It's just so nice out tonight. Not a single cloud in the sky, the moon is bright, and I'm..."

"You're... ?"

"Never mind."

"If you say so."

Sigh.

"That breeze feels really good. Especially after spending pretty much all day in Sand Ruins."

"Yeah, I guess. That place can really heat up at times."

"That's when I'm grateful for the wind. When it cools me down."

"The wind's useful for more than cooling down. That's basically what our Extreme Gears run on."

"They run on air, but leave wind behind. Get it right."

"Yeah, that's what I meant."

"I'm sure, Legendary Wind Master. I'm sure."

"Are you taking a jab at me or something?"

"No, not at all. What would give you that idea?"

"Never mind."

Hyuu...

"... the wind does have many uses. The wind knows the best way around... and there's been times when it's reminded me what our objective is..."

"... are you even talking about the breeze anymore?"

"I don't think so. But do you care?"

"Not really."

Hyuu...

"... the wind's pretty wild. Untamable."

"What can I say? The wind likes to do whatever it wants."

"Even if it doesn't do what it's supposed to be doing."

"You said it yourself, the wind is untamable."

"I know, I know. And that's a little infuriating. And yet, all the same, I..."

"You... ?"

"I..."

Hyuu...

"Any day now."

"... I still love the wind."

"... l-love?!"

"Yes. The L-word. Whoo."

"Like... how?"

"Like I know how? I just do."

"... ... I--"

"The wind."

"Huh? Oh, right... the wind..."

Sigh.

"... the wind... the wind... weeeeeell... ya know. It's mutual... I guess."

"Is that so, now? The wind always seems so obsessed with treasure, with winning..."

"Just because the wind wants those things, doesn't mean that those are all that I-- the wind... thinks about."

Hyuu...

"Do you really feel like that, Wave? Or are you just joking around?"

"Does it matter? I doubt you'd be ready for a relationship of any sort. From how you've behaved in the past, commitment isn't something you've had a lot of experience with."

"That might be true, but I don't think it'd hurt to try something different."

"You sure? After all, relationships need responsibility, and I know how much the wind hates responsibility."

Heh heh heh.

"I don't think the wind really cares. You hate my hatred, so that takes care of that."

"It's interesting to see you up for something like this, Jet. Normally, you'd be backing off, and saying that it'd be breaking the rules..."

"Since when did we play by the rules?"

"Exactly."

Hmm...

"Out of curiosity, Jet, why exactly are you willing to give this a go?"

"That's for me to know and you to not find out."

"You...!"

Heh heh heh!

This short and probably very cheesy attempt at a dialogue-drabble has been in my files for a long time and I figured I'd best post it up now before I forgot about it. I also give apologies for my inactivity, particularly regarding the updates on We All Meet Again.
