Alice smiled down at her family, for the first time in a long time feeling as if she was doing something right not for anyone else, but for herself.
Her mother raised a hand in fairwell and her company smiled at her.
This venture was the only thing that they approved of that she wanted to do with all her heart. The happiness, pride, and confidence she felt in herself was almost overwhelming.
She strode to the very front of the ship and leaned on the handrail, a smile still on her face and facing towards the big, blue, mysterious ocean. She basked in what little sunlight streamed throught the clouds.
Alice thought about everything she was about to embark on. A new chapter in her life. A new beginning.
Who knew what was came next? Maybe she would stay in Hong Kong and make a living. Maybe she would go back to Underland one day.
Or night; it really didn't matter to her.
Maybe then she'd stay for good.
Who knew.
What a perfectly unanswered question.
Then, seemingly out of nowhere, a butterfly colored monarch style with bright, pretty blue instead of burnt orange landed on her shoulder.
It completely ruined her shining moment, which popped like a balloon (preferrably red) and blew away into the ocean to be swallowed by some poor animal.
Alice frowned, turning her head so she could see the insect.
Absolem had called her "stupid girl" and "dimwitted" and insulted her. It wasn't her fault she didn't know everything about that world when she was six! Called her the wrong Alice and disappeared just when she needed him the most. The only reason she had decided not to squish him sooner was because he could have helped her. Now, however...
"Goodbye, Absolem," she whispered loathingly.
She reached up with her left hand and flicked the offending butterfly off her shoulder onto the ground and delicately stepping on it with a graceful shoe.
A satisfying crunch of the insect brought the smile back.
Now all was right with her world again.
. . .
[entire thing written in an English accent] I've been watching way too much Alice in Wonderland. -.-' Thank my sister for the origin of this thing. I mean no offense to any fans of Absolem. I'm just not fond of him. :/ This is meant to be funny. What do you think?
Disclaimer: MH stands for March Hare, who would give me a concussion if I owned Alice in Wonderland. I am merely using it for entertainment and do not make any profit from this story.
