It was midnight and pouring down with rain, which is why it surprised Steve when he heard a knock on his bedroom window. He rolled out of bed and went over to the window, pulling back his curtains to see Bucky sitting in a tree in his back garden. Steve didn't hesitate and opened the window letting a very wet Bucky into his bedroom.
"Bucky, what are you doing here?" Steve asked his friend.
"I needed to talk to you." Bucky answered, with a sniffle.
"Hold on, I'm going to get you a towel." Steve walked out of his bedroom and came back moments later, switching on the light and handing over the towel so that Bucky could dry himself off.
"What do you want to talk about Buck?" Steve asked softly, sitting on the bed and patting it so that Bucky could sit down next to him. He felt the bed dip as Bucky sat down and could tell that his friend was upset about something, which was a rare thing to happen.
"Rebecca broke up with me." Bucky sniffled again.
"Oh. Buck, I'm so sorry." Steve moved closer to his friend. Rebecca. Bucky's girlfriend, whom he adored and whom Steve was insanely jealous of.
"I really loved her Steve, and now I'm not even with her anymore."
"Bucky, other girls will come along. You'll find someone else, I promise."
"No Steve. She was the only girl that I felt like that with." Bucky shook his head, and put his head in his hands as he started to cry.
"Bucky. Forget about her. You still have me, and you know I'm with you til the end of the line." Steve, rubbed his friends back soothingly as Bucky looked up and over at Steve with a small smile.
"I know. I can always count on you Steve. You're one of the only people that I care about. You're my best friend." Bucky moved closer to the smaller boy and hugged him.
They stayed like that for a while, before Bucky pulled away and looked at Steve. They were both still in close proximity, and it was silent between them as Steve looked towards Bucky. The brunette bit his bottom lip slightly, as he leaned closer and pressed his lips against Steve's. Steve, unsure of what was happening, returned the kiss as Bucky wrapped his arms around Steve's waist, moving closer until he had Steve on his back, with him leaning over Steve, an arm each side of his smaller friend, who he was now kissing, which Steve really didn't mind at all. For Steve, it was like a dream come true, as soon as Bucky's lips met his he could see and hear fireworks in his mind exploding, and as the kiss continued, the fireworks got louder and brighter, until Bucky pulled away and gave a small soft smile.
"I've been wanting to do that for a long time." He whispered, and got up turning the light off before crawling into bed with Steve, a dorky smile plastered on his face as he drifted off to sleep with Steve in his arms.
