A/N: I do not own inFamous: Second Son!
Delsin tightened his grip on Reggie's hand and on the edge of the tower, his muscles protesting. God, his fingers were slipping. He dug his fingers into the rough gravel of the tower, feeling his skin break and blood well up around the digits. Reggie was getting heavier and heavier, concrete crawling up his body, threatening to bring them down.
"Just hold on, Reggie! I can do this!" Delsin shouted, trying and failing to pull them both up. He was out of power. He began to panic, his heart fluttering crazily and sweat dripped down his temple. Reggie's fingers dug into his wrist and Delsin winced.
"Delsin-"
"No, no, no, no, I can do this!" Delsin interrupted, trying again to lift the two of them.
"Delsin!" Reggie shouted, grabbing his attention. Delsin looked into his brother's eyes and saw the cold determination there.
"No, Reggie-"
"Delsin, I'm so proud of you," Reggie began.
"No, no, I can save us, just hold on-"
"Delsin, listen to me," Reggie begged. Delsin fell silent, his eyesight beginning to waver with unshed tears. "I am so proud of you, Delsin. You can not let this concrete get to you too. You need to let go," he said it so calmly, his face hard with his decision.
"No, Reggie please, not you too," Delsin begged, "You can't leave me too!"
"I love you, brother," Reggie looked him in the eye and let go, his body hurtling downward.
"NOOOOOOOO, REGGIE!" Delsin screamed. Reggie's body hit the water below them, disappearing beneath the rolling waves. Delsin shook with silent sobs, eyes desperately looking for his brother. No, no, you're not leaving me! He let go. His heart fluttered as he fell, memories of falling into a lake and his lungs aching for air floating through his head. He tried to push them aside and focused on the burning image of Reggie falling. His body hit the cold water with a deafening smack, all of the air rushing out of his body. He fell downwards, the currents and gravity dragging him down, suffocating him. God, he couldn't breathe! He thrashed around, his mind stuck in the fear of drowning, of his lungs filling with water. His head hit a piece of the concrete debris from the tower and with the pain, came clarity. Where was Reggie?
He opened his eyes, trying to make sense out of the foggy images he saw. He pushed himself forward, frantically looking for his lost brother. There! A cone of jagged concrete stood out among the debris and he swam for it, his lungs and muscles aching. He latched onto the cone, pulling desperately, trying to dislodge it and free his brother. He punched, pulled, and scratched, his movements becoming increasingly slower and weaker. Bubbles floated from his mouth and his eyes rolled back. His vision was tunneling and with his last ounce of strength, he grabbed his brother's coffin and pulled himself closer, wrapping his arms around it. His arms were going slack, falling off the cone. He was floating upwards now, and the only thing he could think of, was how beautiful the shining sun was from beneath the surface of the chilling water. His eyes closed, and he let out his final breath.
