'Bambi woke up to the sound of someone yelling.
"Bambi! Get your arse out of bed or you'll be late for breakfast!" came the screeching voice of Bambi's dorm mate, Amanda before slamming the door behind her.
"Yes mother." grumbled Bambi as she threw the covers off and stood up. She walked over to her trunk of clothes and grabbed a pair of muggle jeans, a t-shirt, and her red and gold robes. Bambi slipped out of her pajamas and dressed.
After getting fully clothed she grabbed her blue hair brush and quickly ran it through her long raven hair.
Bambi put her pajamas and hair brush back into her trunk and locked it. She then hurried out of the dorm and down to the Great Hall for breakfast.
Bambi took her usual seat at the Gryffindor table, next to James Potter.
James Potter. Her best friend. She would never admit it to anyone, but she was just a tiny bit attracted to him. Okay, maybe a lot. He made her heart do little fluttery things that no one else could. She wanted to tell him, she really did. But then what? Bambi knew that James didn't see her that way. She'd hate to ruin a perfectly good friendship.
"G'morning Bam." James greeted with a mouthful of eggs.
"Morning." Bambi replied as she started to fill her plate with bacon and eggs. She grabbed a glass and filled it with orange juice.
Just then Hugo and Rose Weasley came in and sat opposite of her and James. They were whispering so quietly that Bambi couldn't hear them.
"So Bam," Bambi's heart fluttered when James said the nickname that only he used.
She turned to face him. "Do you have any idea about that potions assignment? Do you think you could help me with it during free period? Maybe out by the lake. It's a great day."
"Sure. Amanda asked me to help her with the History of Magic assignment but to be honest, I'd way rather help you."
"Thanks so much Bam, I owe you one."
Bambi laughed. She reached for her orange juice and took a drink. This tastes different. Whatever. thought Bambi and ignored the taste difference.
As Bambi began to shovel bacon into her mouth, Hugo piped up.
"So Bam, who do you fancy?" asked the youngest Weasley.
"Well James, of course!" said Bambi. She felt the blood rush to her face as she realized what she just said. Why had she said that?
Bambi soon put the taste difference and what she just said together and yelled at Hugo. "You put virtuism in my drink you prat!"
"Hugo just sat there. Bambi stood up and walked out of the Great Hall.
Fantastic. thought Bambi. Where am I to go now? She had ruined the best friendship she had ever had! Bambi decided to go out to the Black Lake. It really was a nice day.
Bambi made it to the lake's shore and plopped herself down unto the sand. What's James going to think of me now? Bambi thought.
"Hey." came a very familiar voice from behind her.
"James, I-" Bambi stopped herself. All she really wanted was to stay friends with James.
"I payed him to do it, you know."
"What?" Bambi asked, confused.
"I payed Hugo to put the virtuism in your drink. I wanted to know if you like me." James said simply. "So, you really do like me?"
"You can't exactly lie when you drink virtuism, James."
"Right." James said as he sat next to Bambi.
"We can still be friends, right?" Bambi asked. She couldn't bear not being friends with James.
"Well, I was hoping I could do this." James said as he leaned in and pressed his lips to Bambi's.
Bambi had waited for this moment for as long as she could remember. She closed her eyes and kissed back. All too soon James pulled away and held Bambi's hands in his.
"I like you, too Bam."
