Nothing Else Matters
The strong scent of her deodorant calmed me as she cradled me in her toned, sturdy arms. My uneven breathing and sniffling were the only noises in the messy room of my girlfriend, Ymir. I sighed as I felt her begin to gently toy with the tips of my long, blonde hair.
"It's okay," she whispered against my head, planting tiny kisses against my scalp, "Their words mean nothing, Historia."
I looked up, brushing soft, brown strands of hair out of my girlfriends tanned, speckled face. I always loved playing with the shorter hairs that escaped her ponytail, but the way they framed her face was gorgeous too.
"Ymir," I said in a hushed voice, trying to hold back sobs, "What if their right? What if we're wrong?" Quietly, I began to cry again as I bit my bottom lip to hid my strained sobs that threatened to escape.
"What's wrong with out love?" The brunette chuckled, wiping the tears from the blonde's face.
"We're both girls!" I sniffled, regretting my words as soon as they left. The smile on Ymir's face disappeared and was replaced with a frown.
"Right, Historia, I want you to look me in the eyes." I nodded, doing as she said, my eyes meeting her confident, brown eyes.
"Do you love me?" She asked, her eyes not wavering.
"Yes, Ymir, more than anyone!"
"Do you want to be with me?"
"Of course, but-"
"But nothing," She grinned, gently pressing a finger to my lips, "I love you too, and that's all that counts. Even if people say we're wrong, we'll still love each other."
Without thinking I eagerly shot up, pressing my lips against hers and wrapping my arms around her neck. I had been a fool. Ymir was right.
They mean nothing.
The opinions of others, their views and the hateful words they yell, they all mean nothing.
No matter what they call us, no matter how they hurt us, we will still love each other. If our love is true, then they could never tear us apart, and we would simply continue to attract like magnets.
And nothing else matters.
