Leslie needed to leave the faerie realm. She wanted nothing to do with faeries. Even though she needed Niall, King of the Dark Court. She is the destined queen. Leslie did not want to be with him. She knew it was healthiest. It's because the Dark court possesses the soul. Makes people forget who they are, what they love, what they hate. All emotion is gone just eternal darkness.
"Leslie." Niall whispered.
"Niall… I can't be…" she stopped. "I can't be your ideal dark queen. I need to have nothing to do with you or your court."
"You don't need to be. Just stay with me."
"I am too connected. If I stay, I become my destiny..
"Leslie… I love you."
"I know. I love you too but you and I.. just can't be together."
"Don't say that… please Leslie."
"Niall." Leslie said taking his hand. "I will always love you. But think about me. I have a future. I have to put me first. You and I both know how bad this would be for me."
"Leslie you're right." Niall replied. He wished she wasn't. But he knew. "Before you go, I want you to have something." He gave her a pendant that she took. "Under the Dark Court's protection. I will be watching you from afar." Niall leaned in and kissed Leslie hard. A tear formed in Leslie's eye.
"Goodbye." Leslie whispered and brushed her lips softly against his. She walked out the door, turned the corner and went into her apartment 301. She sat on her couch stroking the pendant. She knew she would never take it off.
