BLAZING DOG STAR

"No, Mum, get away!"

Sirius Black was tired of his mother. He was tired of his father. And his brother. And that wretched house-elf, Kreacher. But soon….

The Hogwarts Express was billowing steam. Me and Mum stood on the platform, her in a humongous set of green robes and me in my new black robes with a name tag that read "Sirius Black."

I ditched Mum as soon as I could, hurrying over to the edge of the platform with my trunk. A boy who looked about 15 helped me load it into the luggage compartment. And, without even waving to my mother, I hopped on the train and started off down the corridor, throwing my black hair away from my eyes.

The first compartment I looked into was full of girls. They looked at me curiously when I poked my head in. Trying to keep my face from turning red, I quickly backed out and down the train again. I finally found a good-looking compartment about ¾ of the way down the train. 3 boys sat in it, playing Paper Quidditch with a piece of parchment. I slid open the door.

"Hey, can I come in?" I asked.

A boy with messy black hair and hazel eyes looked up then shrugged. "Sure. Join the party."

I stepped in and sat down.

"I'm James, by the way," said the black haired boy. "James Potter."

I nodded. "Sirius. Sirius Black."

James introduced the other guys in the compartment. Remus and Frank.

At first glance I thought there were only boys in the compartment. Then I noticed a small red-haired girl crammed in the corner. Her eyes were bright green, but they were lined with red, like she'd been crying. Even with the puffiness of her eyes, she was very pretty. I nudged James and tilted my head towards her. He shot her a glance, then smirked and nodded.

Then, the compartment door slid open again. We all looked up. A stringy boy was standing there. He had greasy black hair that went down to his shoulders. His face was long and pallid. His eyes instantly fell on the red-head in the corner. I felt James stiffen ever-so-slightly next to me. I covered my mouth to muffle laughter. 20 minutes on the Express and there were already jealous feelings!

The greasy kid stepped into the compartment and went to sit across from the girl. We could hear them talking, but as they weren't kissing, we didn't really pay attention to them. Until…

"You'd better be in Slytherin!"

James looked up. "Slytherin?" he laughed. "Who wants to be in Slytherin?"

I felt a squirm inside me. My whole family had been in Slytherin. But I hated them. Surely I wouldn't be in the same house as the lot of them had been, right?

"My whole family has been in Slytherin." I told James.

"Blimey, and I thought you seemed all right!" he said. But he was smiling.

"Maybe I'll break the tradition. Where're you hoping to go, if you had a choice?"

"Gryffindor, where dwell the brave at heart! Like my dad." The greasy-haired kid in the corner coughed.

James whipped around. "Got a problem with that?" he snapped.

The kid smirked. "No, if you'd rather be brawny than brainy…"

I lashed out. "Where're you going, seeing as you're neither?"

The girl raised her head. Thank God. She had stopped crying. She glared at us with these big, bright green eyes. "Come on Severus, we don't need to stay here."

All us guys looked at her and sort of laughed as she and Severus got up. We taunted and imitated her lofty voice as they walked out. And as the compartment door was closing, I shouted "See ya, Snivellus."

James and I high-fived.

I don't really know where I'm going with this, it's just going to be some kind of narrative from Sirius's POV (because Sirius is AWESOME) throughout a coupla years. Please Rate and Review, I'm gonna need some help with this!
