Author's note: Well, I got bored, and when I saw apple pie, this came to me. The chords/lines/rhymes/whatever you call doesn't have a specific tune to be sung to, so just use your imagination.

I came home to music wafting down the hallway. If you could call it music, that is. Walking down the hallway, after I had put up the groceries, I saw wads of crumpled paper strewn around his doorway. When I got closer, I heard Kyo humming to himself. Looking into his room, I saw Kyo sitting at his desk with a guitar in his lap that I didn't know he had, his back facing me. I stood hidden in his doorway, concealed by shadows. "You're so cute, compared to you, I'm a brute." I blinked in confusion. Was Kyo trying to compose a song? "No…" Kyo scratched something out on paper. "I love your muffin-colored hair…" Kyo paused. "I just want to stop and stare…" At this, Kyo wrote down something. And then, he crumpled up the piece a paper he wrote on, and threw it behind him aimlessly. After dodging the paper, I picked it up. I realized it was sheet music. Yes, Kyo was trying to write a song.

I stood there in the doorframe, watching Kyo trying to write a song. He would sometimes just mumble some words; other times actually singing a made-up cord, or just strum his guitar. The lines he came up with sometimes didn't rhyme, and he would occasionally use a pseudo rhyme. Sometimes the rhymes made some sense, others didn't. More often then not, it fell into the latter category. "You're more unique than a platypus." It was all I could do not to laugh at that one. Kyo scratched his head and just stopped singing out loud, sitting his guitar beside his chair. I didn't know what he was thinking about, but I continued to stand there, watching him, transfixed.

Suddenly, he seemed to get a bout of inspiration. He picked back up his guitar and plucked a tune. Then, after an introduction, Kyo began to sing, "Now, this ain't a lie, you're sweeter than baked apple pie. Tohru, can't you see, how much you mean to me?" I sucked in my breath. Did he say Tohru? He stopped. Did he hear me? After a moment, Kyo suddenly stood up and punched the wall, cursing loudly. "How freaking hard is it to write a love song?" He opened his window and shoved the guitar out of it, all in one motion. "All I want to do is show her how much I care-" Kyo turned around and stopped midsentence.

He stared at me incredulously. Finally, he asked me, "H-how long have you been there?"

I swallowed. "Since the 'brute' part."

Kyo ran a hand through his bright orange hair. "Oh, my gosh… Why didn't you say anything" His face started to match turn to match his hair.

I averted my eyes. "I thought… I thought you were good. I thought that you had such a good voice. And, the fact that you made if for me, is, well, I can't put it into words." I looked up at him. "It's so…" I trailed off, looking for the right words. "It's sweeter than apple pie."

Kyo looked at me for a moment. I couldn't tell if he took that as a compliment. Finally, he smiled, looked at me and said, "Couldn't you have told me that before I shoved that expensive guitar out the window?"
