Goju had never understand the principal behind combat with fire.
Why rush in recklessly, without some sort of plan? To him, that shows weakness; not giving yourself time to prepare for battle.
Earth is strong and hard willed. It can take countless beatings and not even cringe, waiting for the perfect moment a force shows weakness, then crushed resistance with one deadly blow.
That's the way fighting should be.
Since many people don't heed this style of combat, they misunderstand earthbenders. And that's exactly what this poor Fire Nation soldier is doing. He charged Goju upon seeing the mighty earthbender without a second thought. And even as Goju is narrowly avoiding death, he still keeps his cool. He knows better than to attack before he's ready. The soldier jumps, kicks, punches and does everything in his power to hurt Goju, but has rarely hurt Goju enough to flinch.
Goju grins. "You firebenders are truly ignorant." He says.
"We… aren't… ignorant!" The soldier pants. "We're trying to unite the world!" The soldier punches the air, but only a tiny spark comes out.
Goju grins, knowing he has the fight won. "You fools can't win the war or keep peace unless you improve your fighting styles. Rush in like you just did, and your entire nation will fall." He pulls out a large hammer and slams it into the soldier.
