The sky was filled with thousands of stars. All of them glimmered brightly like thousands of glistening jewels. Laying in his back, Rocket gazed up at them, his paws behind his back.
Sitting next to his friend, Baby Groot gazed at him. "I am Groot!"
"Yeah, buddy!" Rocket replied, understanding him perfectly. "It really is swell to relax and look up the stars - but we've done something even better than that!"
"I am Groot?"
"We've actually flown up into space and soared past them! 'Cause we're the Guardians of the Galaxy!"
Groot stares for a moment before turning to gaze back up at the stars - where something instantly grabbed his attention. "I am Groot!"
Rocket looked towards what the tiny baby plant had spotted, catching it making its way through the sky above.
"Oh that? That right there a falling star!"
"I am Groot?"
"No, little guy, it's not actually a star that falls from the sky! The guy who discovered the first one just thought it would be cool to give it a name like that! He must have been some werido, since falling stars don't actually fall! Such a stupid, meaningless name!"
Being made to feel very intelligent by explaining to the infant tree creature about what he was seeing for the first time, Rocket jumped to his feet and stood before him, feeling like a smart professor lecturing to his student that needed teaching.
"What is cool about falling stars is that when you see one, you get to make a wish."
"I am Groot?!"
"Uh huh! A wish! Maybe you could wish to be able to say more than just who you are!"
Rocket turned away and put a paw to his chin. "Now what could I wish for? Maybe to have all the riches in the universe? Perhaps to stop everyone calling me a raccoon? I could even be the undisputed leader of the Guardians!"
Rocket was thinking so hard about what to wish for, he didn't notice what was hurling his way.
Instantly catching sight of heading his way, Groot started to cry out. "I am Groot! I am Groot! I am Groot!"
"Shush, Groot!" Rocket demanded. "I can't hear myself thinking of what to wish for!"
"I!"
"Look, I know you're excited to see a falling star for the first time, but you don't need to make a song and dance about it!"
"Am!"
"I said shush! How hard is that for you?!"
"Groot!"
"GROOT! SHUT THE HELL UP!"
Rocket directed down at Groot a fierce glare on his furry face - which was quickly wiped away. Realising what his friend was trying to warn him of, he gazed up and let out a terrified yell - before the falling star came crashing down right on top of him.
Baby Groot gave a bewildered look at what had just fallen from space to land on his comrade. It didn't look anything like a star at all; more like just a large boulder. Rocket had also told him these things don't fall. This one had - right on top of him. The little plant creature wondered if the one who'd just told him all this wondered if he knew what he was talking about. It didn't seem like it...
A muffled voice came from underneath where the falling star had landed.
"I have just decided what I am going to wish for..."
Baby Groot stared curiously towards where the voice was coming from. "I am Groot?"
"Yeah... I wish for you to... GET THIS FRICKIN' STAR OFF OF ME!"
With a jump of surprise, Baby Groot tried to use his tiny hands made of bark to push the meteor from where it had landed. He found out, however, that he was nowhere near strong enough to make it budge. Giving up quickly, he shrugged and headed merrily away, leaving Rocket stuck and squashed under the fallen falling star.
The end.
