The Gryffindor Prince

Nemarra

Prologue

In the lands of the kings, four great nations stood. Four countries bound in brotherhood. To the north was the lands of Hufflepuff, prided as the most loyal of friend. To the south was Ravenclaw, whose wisdom had no end. To the west lay Slytherin, which not much was known. And to the east sat the brave Gryffindor thrown. Their paths had been as one for a thousand years. And all that rang in the land was cheers.

But today the lands sat quietly still, and many eyes lay on the castle on the hill. For the five mages of the land had come to Gryffindor. And everyone knew what their presence was for. A baby would be born to the Queen and King, and the people awaited the trumpets' ring. Then they rang for the people to hear, and everyone in the village to the castle drew near. On the balcony's top stood king mage, Dumbledore, and he shouted out, "People of Gryffindor. Today may you all sing with cheer, for a healthy new prince be born here." So the people celebrated with hearts of joy, for King James and Queen Lily's new baby boy.

But far from the land, not all was quiet right. For the prince of Slytherin was scheming that night. Another prince certainly would not due, for only one of them could rein all true. A plot was set for power and greed, but tonight he would not commit his murderous deed. Sneering the Prince thought, "let them have their peace for now. One day soon I will be the only king to whom they bow." The mood was different in Hufflepuff's keep. With so many parties, tonight none would sleep. But it was Ravenclaw that celebrated with the greatest joy. For they had a daughter who could wed the boy.

Fate was changing for the young babe born that day. What would happen, no one could say. For now he lay at his mother's breast, as she cooed, "Goodnight sweet Harry, lay down your head and rest."
