"I watched you while you were sleeping, er, I was present while you were unconscious, because of the ice."
Steve walked into the bright hospital room and smiled when he saw that Coulson was finally awake. It had been two weeks since the battle in New York, and one week since Fury had called the team to let them know that, actually Coulson wasn't dead at all, just "Recovering from being stabbed in the chest by an evil alien," as Fury had put it
And so Steve had watched over him every day for the week; the vintage card signed and ready just waiting for their owner to wake up. And now he had.
"Hey," Steve greeted, smiling.
"Um, hi, Captain Rodgers, sir," Coulson replied awkwardly.
"Please, call me Steve."
Coulson looked, for lack of a better description, like a teenage fan-girl meeting Tom Felton, David Tenant and Benedict Cumberbatch all at once.
"Wow! Yes, of course, Capt- Steve. So how are you?"
"I'm good, yea, better now that you are. It's so great to see you again, well I sort of saw you. I watched you while you were sleeping, wait! No, no I mean," Steve cleared his throat.
"I meant to say that I was present while you were unconscious, recovering that is, uh," Steve turned such a bright shade of red he looked like he was wearing face-paint.
Coulson just chuckled lightly as he remembered saying almost the exact same thing the first time he had met his hero.
"It's fine, but did I really sound that awkward the first time we met?" Coulson asked mockingly, and two men laughed and talked for a bit. Then the Avengers arrived and they had a great laugh, remembering the first time each of them had met Coulson.
He looked around the hospital room full of smiling people and couldn't help thinking how good it was to be alive.
So, that was my first fanfic on this site. What did you guys think?
I know it's horribly short, but I hope you liked it anyway, it exists because I have exams on at the moment, and I am a firm believer in procrastination, unless I have to move or, you know, be social.
I may upload other shtuffs soon so keep an eye out.
