Disclaimer: I don't own 'The Worst Witch.'

A/N: Hey folks! I know I've been practically non-existent on here the past few months, I'm a busy woman, lol. I miss my writing though so here is a little poem for y'all! I debated whether to write this about Carla or Constance (as they are my two top female characters and I see a LOT of similarities between the two.) but in the end I decided to compromise by writing it on HB but basing the whole thing on something said by Carla, some time ago now. :)

Hope you enjoy!

'Its front darlin', you know, showtime'

(Carla Connor, Coronation Street)

Showtime

She plays the part and she plays it well

From a distance no one can tell

But if you look deeper into her eyes

You'll see the truth, behind the lies

Beneath the scowling, beneath the stares

Behind the glances, beyond the glares

The fear is real and her pain is clear

Yet still she cannot shed a tear

For she knows if she gives in

If she even starts to crumble

Everything around her will collapse

Clattering to the ground with an almighty tumble

Her mask will shatter

Her wall will break

The thought of the truth unravelling

Is almost more than she can take

The looks of pity

People's saddened eyes

It's enough to make her continue

Continue with her lies

And so she suffers in the deadly sounds of silence

Hiding a lifetime of physical torture and violence

The scars and the bruises are easy enough to cover

It's the mental torture that is like no other

Haunting her night, haunting her day

Haunting her

Haunting her

In every which way

Yet no one guesses

No one knows

No one offers

Their hand to hold

Hushed whispers

Spoken words

All asking why

Why is she such a bitch?

She pretends she can't hear them

Pretends the words don't sting

Pretending pretending about everything

Standing in front of the mirror

Her mask perfectly in place

One final surveying glance

Before the world she must face

She plays the part and she plays it well

From a distance no one can tell

But if you look deeper into her eyes

You'll see the truth, behind the lies

Maybe one day that truth she will tell

Before taking to the stage and singing her swan song

But for now...

...for now the show must go on.
