Mmmmm! I can't take it anymore! I need to write this!
The sirens blared far down in the distance of the street below, down all five hundred feet of the building. The usual crowd, the usual roof, the usual thief, and the usual detective in the usual heist with the unusually pale Kid, who stared wide-eyed at the unusually languid, smirking face of Conan.
"What did you say?" Kid asked, privately applauding his poker voice for not giving away the squeak that threatened to bubble up his throat.
Conan, standing a little ways from him, both hands clasped behind his back, repeated, "I said, good job tonight, Kuroba Kaito."
Kid just stood there, near the railing, frozen. Outwardly, he seemed to be pondering something as he gazed down at the diminutive detective, regarding him but inside, it was like a strong wind had knocked him over and sent him sailing a good hundred meters away.
Do. Not. Panic.
"How did you..."
Conan shrugged. "It was easy."
He drew his left hand from behind his back and held it out in front of him, revealing a large, glossy, photo of Kid in all his close-up glory with squares of fold lines crisscrossing each other.
Kid wondered where Conan was going with this. It was a photograph of him. He was sure hundreds of other people had the same thing hidden away but none sure as hell knew his real identity but then Conan's right hand slowly began to move from his back. Kid watched, holding his breath, careful not to show his anxiety at the suspense.
Conan's right hand also held a photograph. The same exact photograph as the one he was holding on his left. Except for the missing monocle. And hat. His two primary modes of disguise were gone, leaving what lay beneath it, bare for the entire world to see.
Kid looked between the two photos before finally looking up the few centimeters to Conan's face. Some surprise must have filtered in through his mask because Conan simply gave the answer to the question that buzzed in his mind.
"Photoshop."
A/N: Okay I'm satsified 8D But c'mon! Honestly! A monocle and a hat is barely enough of a disguise and I'm pretty sure Photoshop exists in whatever year Conan and Kaito are in, which couldn't be less than 1994 when the manga was made and even if Photoshop didn't exist, I'm sure there's plenty of expert artists who could accomplish this feat! But no that's too easy.
