"Is this why you ended our run so soon?"

The Question inside his head had haunted him for days now, he had just been reading the paper when he saw Garfield the fat cat was loved by many but despite that….he was going down hill, the same jokes day after day after day, they really should stop it or try something original.

As he read the strip inside his mind he heard them both, HIS characters, the ones he had created.

Even though they had left the world years ago, inside his head they were still around.

Calvin and Hobbes.

They were inside his head all of the time it seemed it was a nice feeling to know that those who you had created and loved and still loved by himself and millions, they were still there and sometimes they would both just play or be his voice of reason.

Well Hobbes would Calvin was well…still Calvin.

But then, inside his head that day h heard a voice say one thing.

"Garfield is going downhill nowadays why do they still keep it running?"

"Oh yeah, your telling me Calvin." He had said.

"Because it sells well enough in franchising, because of the films and TV shows." He had heard Hobbes say. "That's why we ended on a high note so that way we wouldn't end up like the others Cal."

He had felt Calvin read the comic along with his eyes glancing the page. "Is this the reason Bill?" He had asked.

"Is this why you ended our run so soon?"

HE stopped….he knew that the boy wanted an answer but he had kept his lips shut he didn't want to answer, but in the back of his mind it kept repeating itself for several days.

And then when he read another Garfield comic, Calvin asked it again.

"Is this why you ended our run so soon?"

The man finally stopped and he gave a sigh. "Yes yes it is, I didn't want you both to become like this you two are better than this much better and he sued to be too."

Calvin had stopped speaking and then in a calm voice he heard his creations answer.

"I under stand, I wouldn't want to end up like that either."

Possibly my Shortest work in a long time but my friend Whereever Girl/ She Wolf 91 had a journal post about how Garfield was going downhill with very little story..ad it make me come to want to write this about WHY Bill Watterson ended Calvin and Hobbes, and why he did it.

He saw what was going to happen with Icons like Snoopy and Garfield and he didn't want to be a part of it, he didn't want Calvin and his Buddy Hobbes to be corporate Zombies.

So yeah Read and Review no Flames and yes The Imagination War Sequel is coming out this month…hopefully.
