Jenny and Vastra had been in love for a long time now. They were about to get married but Jenny hadn't even told her parents about Vastra yet. Her father had always been a very judging and mean person, she had never told him any of her dreams or secrets. But it was the time, she couldn't just disappear without saying anything, even though she would've wanted to do that.
Once Jenny, Vastra and Strax had arrived in front of Jenny's home, she got really nervous but she didn't say anything. She didn't want to upset Vastra. When Jenny knocked on the door, it took a while for her mother to open up. She had decided to go inside alone first, to not frighten her mum and dad. Obviously they knew about Jenny being a maid at Madame Vastra's house but they couldn't have even imagined that their litte daughter was in love with a woman. And not just a usual woman, a woman that looks like a lizard.
After about 10 minutes of chatting, she decided to tell her parents why she came. „Mother, father, you know I have not been home much lately. I have been at Madame Vastras house, working as a maid and well, I have been developing feelings for a person. In fact, we're going to get married soon," she could see the rage in her father's eyes and her voice starts to shake „I am aware I should have told you earlier, but I was anxious. The person I love is actually female and not human at all. Vastra and I are going to get married in two months." She was in tears and couldn't even look at her parents' disappointed faces. Her mother was sobbing and her father's face was as red as a tomato. He started coming towards Jenny. He hit his daughter and left the room.
At that moment Vastra had walked into the Flints' living room and when she saw Jenny's father hit her she lost her temper. Without saying anything to Jenny's mother she sat next to the poor girl and mumbled „Stupid apes!" repeatedly to which Jenny replied „I'm so sorry ma'am. So so so sorry." She hugged her human shortly. As Jenny's father returned to the room she hissed at him. After seeing the action he yelled at Jenny and this awful woman to never show their faces at this house again. The girl stood up quickly but Vastra told her to sit down again. She did as she was asked because she knew her lizard never did anything without a reason. Jenny's father was about to slap her again but Madam Vastra hooted at him, „Lay your one finger on my wife and you'll never see that finger again." It wouldn't have worked but he didn't see Vastra was green before and he was so shocked he collapsed. „I suppose it's enough for him for now." Madame Vastra gave a small kiss on Jenny's cheek and they were about to leave. On the door her mother had finally recovered from the news and even though she couldn't come to their wedding she wished them luck and asked them to visit her sometimes when father is not home.
„I'm so very sorry you had to see this, madam." Jenny said when they reached their carriage. „Your apology is rather unnecessary, my dear Jenny. Most important is that we have now told them and we can move on to more positive matters now, our wedding is in two months after all." The lizard smiled and closed the door behind them.
After an exhausting day they went to sleep as soon as they arrived at home. „I love you, ma'am." Jenny murmured. „I love you too, my dear." Answered Vastra but her litte human had already fallen asleep.
