A.N: To my lovely, selfish, slightly sadistic, Ereri-fanatic friend for her birthday. Domestic birthday fluff because I'm way too nice, even when she won't share an empire with me.

A Special Morning

Eren woke up to the cheerful song of the birds outside and the soft, warm sunlight shining down on his face from the window. He felt a warm body snuggling closer from behind him, a soft breath on his neck. He smiled and opened his eyes. He slowly turned to face the man sleeping beside him, careful not to wake him.

Levi's raven black hair hung in front of his closed eyelids, messy instead of the usual perfectly combed look it sustained during the day. Eren raised a hand to pull a strand of it behind the man's ear, trailing down to softly caress the chiseled jaw and the slightly puckered lips. He watched, adoring, as the older man slept. Levi's face was free of its usual expressionless visage and it was the perfect picture of peaceful, with closed eyes and a small smile playing on pink lips. Eren smiled wider and sighed in contentment. Levi always complained about mornings and talked about how the younger man was crazy for liking them but Eren couldn't help it. He loved being able to see Levi so relaxed, to trace soft contours in silky white skin. He knew that he was the only person who got to see this side of Levi, and that made it all the more special. He leaned forward to press a light kiss on the older man's brow and reluctantly made his way out of bed. He tip toed out of the bedroom, carefully closing the door behind him, and walked down the stairs to the kitchen silently.

Eren walked around, picking up a pan and the ingredients to make pancakes, and started cooking. Levi was usually the one who cooked, as he despised the way Eren would 'completely wreck the kitchen as if he were a rampaging titan' when the younger man tried to make anything, but today was different. Today was Levi's birthday and, despite the older man claiming otherwise, it was a special day. He hummed as he made the pancakes and Levi's favorite kind of coffee, black and sweet (the sugar on that thing!).

"You better be the one cleaning that mess later, brat" Came a voice from behind him.

Eren jumped and turned around to look at where the voice came from. Levi was leaning on the doorway with his arms crossed and a half-hearted glare. Eren chuckled.

"I thought you liked cleaning?" He teased. Levi rolled his eyes.

"You're hilarious, Jaeger."

Eren turned back around to flip the pancakes as Levi sat down on the counter.

"What are you doing?"

"What does it look like I'm doing?"

"I know you're cooking, brat, I want to know why you're cooking."

"Because I want to."

"Hm. Why today and not any other day?"

"Because today is not like any other day." He glanced back at Levi then turned back to cooking "It's my job as a boyfriend to do something for my boyfriend on his birthday, don't you think?"

"I think I'd rather you did something other than cooking."

"You mean yourself?"

"Something like it." Eren chuckled, putting the pancakes on a plate and handing it to Levi.

"That's for later." He winked.

He walked to the cabinets and picked up a candle and a lighter while the older man watched him move around. Eren came to Levi's side and sticked the candle into the pile of pancakes. The older man raised an eyebrow at him, but Eren ignored it in favor of lighting the candle. He turned to look at Levi and smiled brightly before bending to kiss the other man's cheek.

"Happy birthday, Levi."
