AN: I never said I wouldn't do one shots, so my little whovian mind said "YAY! DOCTOR WHO!"
-Nightmares-
Time Lords don't sleep much. We do sleep, but we don't sleep much. There's to much to do, to much to see, and oh so much running to do. But that doesn't make us immune.
Or rather, it doesn't make me immune.
There used to be so much more of us. But then the war came, and now I'm all alone. Lonely and alone.
That's made me paranoid. It's the reason I said goodbye to Rose, Martha, and basically all my partners. Because if something happened to them, I could never live with myself. It would be all my fault.
Right now the TARDIS was safe, and I hadn't slept in weeks. I couldn't sleep now though, I hated having those nightmares. Fight it Doctor, fight...
-Nightmares-
I was staring at an army of gas mask children.
"No...that's not possible...you're all dead..."
"DOCTOR!" I heard someone scream. I saw Rose, in the middle of the army, surrounded by the children.
"I'm coming Rose!" I yelled, but it was to late. She had been touched already, and she was gone...gone...gone...
And then I was John Smith. Martha was confessing her love and trying to get me to open the watch. And then I spoke, but it wasn't ME speaking, it was John.
"I'm sorry Martha," I-John- said. "But I'm not the Doctor. I'm John Smith, and you're insane."
Martha ran away, tears in her eyes. I wanted to scream, but John wouldn't let me. And Martha was gone...gone...gone...
Then I was in the library. Donna had two shadows, and nothing I was doing was working.
"It's gonna be okay Donna, it's gonna be okay..."
Donna smiled. "You don't have to lie, Doctor."
"I'm not lying."
"You don't have to lie, Doctor."
"I'm telling the truth!"
"You don't have to lie, Doctor."
River pulled me away from Donna...or what had been Donna.
"It's to late for her, Doctor."
This time I really did scream. But that didn't change the fact that Donna was gone...gone...gone...
And then I was surrounded by all my partners, my enemies, everyone who had died because of me. They all hissed at me and said "All behold The Doctor, the greatest evil in the universe. The single most hideous thing to ever grace the earth. All behold!"
-Nightmares-
"No...NO!"
I woke up in cold sweat. Amy was looking at me funny.
"Doctor, you okay?"
"You're-you're alive!"
Amy rolled her eyes. "Why wouldn't I be? Where we off to today?"
I was relieved, but I knew that when I fell asleep the nightmares would return.
Time Lords don't sleep much. We do sleep, but we don't sleep much. There's to much to do, to much to see, and oh so much running to do. But that doesn't make us immune.
