Fooling Cumulus

The alarm clock sounded on the night stand next to the bed. It rang a total of five times before the occupant sleeping in the bed groaned and hit the top of the clock to shut it up. Something on top of the clock caught his attention. Picking it up, he blinked sleep from his eyes as he sat up. It was a note. It was too early for his eyes to focus properly, but none the less he tried anyway.

Hey Cloud,

I forgot to tell ya last night that while you were helpin' me out in the wizard's study yesterday one of his spells went nuts and hit everyone in the room. I didn't realize it until too late. Do yourself a favor and don't look in a mirror. I don't know what it did to you, but the spell did somethin' wicked to me.

From,

Cid.

The soldier was now fully awake. He didn't remember getting hit by a spell, but with Merlin, one could never tell.

He hurried over to the mirror in his bathroom and turned on the light. Not a single sound came from the bathroom for a few minutes. That silence was quickly shattered as the mirror broke into several pieces.

An hour later, Merlin was in his study, re-organizing his books and getting ready for tea when the door flew open. Cloud walked into the study, the wrathful look on his face would've put the ferocity of a thunderstorm to shame.

Merlin had just recovered from the scare, having dropped his books when the door slammed open on its hinges.

"Oh, C-Cloud, it's you. What's got you in such a sour mood?"

The soldier glared a thousand curses at the wizard. "Change it back." was all he said. His voice seethed with malice.

Merlin took a moment to observe the new look. Cloud's short, spiky blonde hair was now straight, silver and ran down past his back. He looked like the person he hated most and words alone could not express how enraged he was. If Cloud had the power to kill with his stare, Merlin would be six feet under.

"I'm afraid I can't," Merlin replied. "My spells focus around defensive combat. Ice, fire, wind, thunder - I don't know how to change hair style or color. Sorry I can't help, but whoever did it, was not me."

"Then who-?"

Cloud's question was cut short as he heard a quiet chuckle. His gaze darted over towards the corner where the computer sat. Concealed behind some boxes were Cid and Donald.

"April Fool's!" Cid shouted as he and Donald broke out into fits of laughter.

Less than a minute later the door to Merlin's study burst open as Donald and Cid ran for their lives with Cloud chasing them down. His eyes seemed to have glazed red as he swung his sword at them.

He chased them down the street, running right past Sora and Goofy who were returning from restocking on potions and elixirs.

"Look out!" Donald shouted.

"Run for your lives! Sephiroth is coming!" added Cid.

"You're both dead when I catch you!" Cloud shouted.

Sora and Goofy exchanged confused looks.

"Think we should help them?" asked Sora. They both stood there watching the two trying to outrun the soldier who was gaining on them with dust rising in his wake.

"I don't think anyone can help 'em now." Goofy replied.

They both turned and headed back to Merlin's, trying to block out the screams of pain that echoed through the streets.

Okay, so a few days ago I got a request to write an April Fool's Day fic for Cloud. Being the Cloud fangirl that I am I couldn't refuse. It may be a day late on here, but I finished it late last night around 11-ish. I was too tired to upload it then and I apologize for that. I know Cloud may not be in character, but it's a comedy. What do you expect? Hope you enjoyed. x3
