Author's Note: I'm very sorry for my lack of writing for the past… Few years…? I've been having writer's block, and life's been pretty busy for the past year or so. I was lying in bed one night and I thought of a concept for a fanfic, and I just now finally got around to writing it. This chapter is short, because it's 1:18 AM and I'm in a bit of a rush to get this done before I lose motivation. This time, I'm writing completely with OC's, so it's a bit of a change from the other fanfics I've written. Anyway, I'll try to update as much as possible, but it might be a while, because I'm in the process of moving, and I go back to school in about 10 days. So, enjoy this short opening chapter, lovely people!
Chapter One
Tonight was an ordinary night, like most others. I sat on my bed, typing away on my laptop, talking to friends while listening to YouTube videos of people playing one of the latest horror games. A small, light purple Pokemon was lounging on my lap, watching the YouTube video with interest. Her double-ended tail lashed as the YouTuber on the screen screamed at some kind of mechanical chicken. My attention drifted away from the video when my iPod lit up and played a quick electronic sound, notifying me of a new instant message. I reached over and grabbed the small device and unlocked it, and saw that the message was from my boyfriend.
(11:04 PM) Glenn: Hey, Shy.
I grinned slightly at the nickname I've had for about 3 years now. He had given it to me back a week after we started dating, and it sort of stuck, though I hated when anybody but him called me it. Most other people call me by my real name – Shiloh.
(11:04 PM) Me: Hi, what's up?
(11:05 PM) Glenn: Thinking of you. ;)
(11:05 PM) Me: Cute, cute.
(11:05 PM) Glenn: Don't tell me you're watching more horror game videos.
(11:05 PM) Me: Maybe…
(11:07 PM) Glenn: Get some sleep, my dear. Please? You haven't slept in almost three days.
(11:08 PM) Me: I'll try. You know I can't sleep well alone.
(11:08 PM) Glenn: Have Lavender sleep with you tonight. You know what she can do.
(11:09 PM) Me: I don't like using her unique abilities for my personal benefit…
(11:09 PM) Glenn: Shiloh, she loves you, she'll help you.
The little Espeon lifted her head and looked at me, not even looking at the text. "I can help you, Shiloh," she said in her mystical voice, but was lightly stern.
(11:10 PM) Me: Okay, okay. I'll go to sleep now…
(11:11 PM) Glenn: I wish that you have a good sleep.
(11:11 PM) Me: I love you. Goodnight.
(11:12 PM) Glenn: Goodnight, my dear.
I locked my iPod and put it on my desk as Lavender hopped off my lap and onto my bed. I closed my laptop, then turned off my desk lamp, and crawled under my warm covers. Lavender crept under the covers and lied against my chest and put a paw on my cheek. Quietly, she whispered a few words in a different, ancient language, then removed her paw, smiled, and said "goodnight, Shiloh."
I smiled back, and felt a deep tiredness to take over my mind, and my body relaxed and soon, I was in a deep sleep.
