She hadn't meant for it to happen. She hadn't meant for any of it to happen. But being there, watching her friends get married, legally, something inside her changed. Maybe Finn really had been watching over her and was now letting her move on. Maybe she had let go. Whatever it was, Rachel knew Sam was the one for her. They danced together in the reception, seeing Carole and Burt smiling at them in the distance. When the night wound down, Rachel found herself following Sam back to his place. They spent the night, loving each other and holding each other close.
Things went back to normal after that. To their friends, they were just dating, starting fresh. When Rachel finally managed to get her feet back on the ground, she moved back to New York and began working on a revival of Wicked. Sure she wasn't the star, but being in the ensemble cast of a show like that meant she would get noticed, main role or not. She'd been back in New York for a month when she realised something was wrong. Time had just sped by since the wedding and it didn't seem like it had been three months ago but, sitting in her apartment, alone one night, after Skyping with Sam, she glanced at her calendar and realised she had missed her last two periods.
After that day, Rachel's whole life changed. When her producer found out, he let her go, promising to take her back once she'd had the baby. Rachel was distraught. She'd only just patched up her ruined reputation and now this. She weighed all her options, eventually deciding to have the baby but give it up for adoption. Knowing her child would grow up in a better family than she could provide, made it easier for her to do. Sam was ecstatic to find out he was going to be a father but ultimately agreed that she was right, neither of them could give the baby what it needed.
Rachel gave birth to her baby boy in late July, Sam by her side and her fathers waiting outside the door. A foster family had already been arranged, the mother and father both having been thoroughly interviewed by both Sam and Rachel to make sure they were suitable. The one condition they had was that Sam and Rachel name the baby. They spent hours discussing the matter, eventually naming him Spencer Wyatt. The foster family delighted in their baby, thanking Rachel and Sam over and over until the nurses hurried them out
Years passed and Rachel almost forgot that Spencer had even been born. Of course, there was always going to be that memory but part of the adoption meant that she and Sam weren't allowed to visit. It didn't matter anyway as the family had lived in LA, leaving the whole rest of the country for Sam and Rachel. The two of them eventually gave into their feelings and got married, almost two years after Spencer was born. Their wedding was in New York, Central Park. Rachel looked gorgeous in her dress and Sam looked dapper in a suit and bow tie. In honour of Spencer and his creation, Rachel chose Brittany and Santana as her bridesmaids while Sam chose Kurt and Blaine as his groomsmen. The wedding was short and sweet, and they were surounded by friends and family. Sam left Lima to live with Rachel in New York and started a business, teaching kids to sing and play guitar. Rachel did get back onto Broadway, at first in the ensemble cast but she worked her way up to being a star and soon her name was up in lights across Broadway and Sam couldn't be prouder of her. Neither of them ever forgot Finn and they kept a photograph of him in the centre of a collage of old high school photos in their living room.
They'd been married for a year and a half when Rachel fell pregnant again. This time, she worked as much as she could, until the pregnancy stopped her from performing and her understudy took over for the remainder of the season so that Rachel could calmly give birth to her baby girl, Rylee Mae Evans-Berry. The little girl had Rachel's brown hair but Sam's blue eyes. As she grew older, she began to sing like her parents and showed talent in dancing as well. The three of them were very happy together, but a part of Rachel always yearned for her son, who she knew was out there somewhere.
