The Life of Carriers

Chapter 1

A Cute Introduction

Note: So I've been in love with Kantai Collection for a while, but haven't been able to get anything going. With that being said, this is my first story on this so I'll try not to disappoint you guys. Just to give a heads up, this is my number ship so I hope you enjoy.

The sun rose on another beautiful day at the fleet headquarters. Some rose early and others took their time starting off their day. Today was the first day for the new recruits while it was just another day for the veterans. Everyone's already been assigned their fleet. However, the carrier fleets are still to be decided. These are the most valuable assets so the admiral is taking a little more time in deciding who should go where.

As the day has finally come to a start, Kaga was the first one to rise. In her room, it was just her and Akagi. Unlike the other rooms, theirs was very secluded. It was nice and open with a lot of room. Right in the middle of their room was their sleeping area. A futon was placed in the middle where the two of them spent their nights together.

The bright light from the morning sun caused her to finally wake up. She sat up and rubbed her eyes. She then looked down at Akagi who was still sleeping. Kaga couldn't help but stare at her. Akagi was always very beautiful to Kaga and whenever she was asleep, she looked even cuter. She moved her hand over Akagi's face to brush the hair out of her eyes when her hand was suddenly snatched out of the air.

"Good morning." Kaga was flustered. Her face was red as she tried to turn the other way. "Good morning," Akagi said as she reached for Kaga's shoulder.

"Good… Good morning."

"You're up early."

"What are you talking about? I'm always up early. You're always up late."

"I'm sorry. I always eat a lot before bed."

"If you keep doing that, you'll get fat."

"Haha, there's no need to worry about. I can just work it off." Kaga kept her face looking the other direction when Akagi's arms wrapped around her body. "The only reason I sleep so late is because I wait until you fall asleep, and sometimes, you can take a long time." Kaga's face got even redder.

"What are you talking about?"

"I can't sleep until I know my Kaga-san is sleeping peacefully." All of a sudden, Kaga jumped onto her feet and slid open the door.

"We're taking too long. We should get ready."

"Okay, good idea. I'm really hungry." Kaga smiled.

"So should we head to the café?"

"Yes please." Akagi finally got out of bed and the two of them proceeded to get ready.

Even though they don't have any commands for the day, Kaga likes to stay productive. On the other hand, Akagi would rather go with the flow of things. That's the reason why she stays with Kaga. Kaga keeps her on track and also, they're in the same Carrier Division. Once they were ready, they headed off to the café where Akagi immediately grabbed a bite to eat.

After a few minutes of eating, a few of the new recruits found their way inside the café. It was Fubuki and her friends, and immediately, she took notice of Akagi. Her perfect figure, her cute face when she eats; everything about her caught Fubuki's attention. As she was finishing up her huge bowl of rice, Akagi turned her head and saw Fubuki staring at her with big eyes. She cleaned up her mouth, stood up from her chair, and walked towards her. The closer she got, the harder it was for Fubuki to remain on her feet.

"You're that new Special Destroyer, right?" All Fubuki could do was nod her head like an idiot. "Well, good luck. I know you'll be great. We've all heard great things about you. I'll see you around, okay?"

"O-Okay." The carriers made their way out of the café and out to the docks. Before she lost sight of her, Fubuki continued to stare her down and drool.

"Fubuki-chan, are you okay?"

"She's probably having some weird fantasies, poi."

"Akagi-sempai is so cool. One day, I will be in the same fleet as her. I will make sure that that happens." As the two of them made it to the docks, Kaga interrupted their silence.

"You're in a good mood today."

"You are too."

"Don't be ridiculous. I'm always like this."

"Kaga-san, there's no need to lie to me. I know you more than anyone else… Even you. Now, come on. Let's do some scouting." They packed on their equipment and headed out to sea.

Together, the two of them were nearly invincible. They were two very strong carriers with the most knowledge of the seas when compared to any other carrier. Aside from knowing about the sea, they also were battle smart. They knew where to launch their plans and at what number to be efficient. With this scouting missions, it allows their base to be more protected and aware of what's around them.

As they continued their sweep of the mainland, Fubuki was walking along the beach when she saw Akagi sailing through the waters with Kaga. She couldn't help but stare. This was her whole other side. Her graceful movements, her strong posture; everything about her made Fubuki drool. When they finally finished surveying the area, they returned to the docks where Fubuki and her friends were waiting.

"Akagi-sempai, you looked incredible out there."

"Thank you, Fubuki-chan. Hopefully, I'll be able to see you out there one of these days," she said with a smile.

"Of course." She bowed to the two of them as they unpacked their things and made their way back. When they did, an announcement was projected over the loudspeakers. It asked for all non-carriers to meet in the auditorium for a briefing. Right as the announcement finished, swarms of girls made their way to the auditorium, including Fubuki and her friends. As Akagi and Kaga watched this little spectacle, they couldn't help but be a little confused.

"Why do you think we weren't called for a briefing?"

"Probably because our jobs are much different than everyone else's. Anyway, since everyone's busy, would you like to take a bath with me?" Kaga's face turned bright red.

"Why would you ask me that?"

"Because we've been working quite a bit and it's not healthy to wallow in your sweat."

"Akagi-san, when have you ever cared about personal health?"

"Haha, good question." Out of nowhere, Kaga grabbed her hand and pulled her along. "Where are we going?"

"To the bath." Akagi looked at Kaga's face which was still red and smiled. To her, Kaga was so introverted, yet that was the thing she liked most about her. Even though she never really comes out to Akagi, that feeling of her hiding her feelings makes their relationship that much better.

When they finally got to the bath, Akagi was the first one in. She nearly jumped in due to her excitement. On the other hand, Kaga was a little slow. She walked into the bath with her body covered in a towel and with rosy cheeks.

"Kaga-san, why are you wearing a towel? It's just you and me in here."

"Be quiet. Don't question me." She walked to the complete opposite of the bath where she slipped herself inside without Akagi seeing her nude body.

"Doesn't it feel better?"

"Uh huh." Akagi looked at Kaga who wasn't even looking at her. It was obvious that she wanted to look back at her, but something inside was telling her not to. After a few short seconds, the water started to ripple and Kaga noticed Akagi inching herself closer to her.

"Uh, Akagi-san, I've noticed you've taken a liking to that Fubuki girl."

"I guess I have."

"Why? I don't see anything in her."

"Oh Kaga-san, you can't be so rough. We're all fleet girls. We all progress our own way. It's everyone else's job to keep the others moving forward." Her eyes peered to the side and saw that Akagi was getting even closer which made her get a little nervous.

"So… Do you think we'll get separated when the admiral makes the change?"

"Kaga-san?"

"What?" Look at me." Kaga slowly turned her head and saw Akagi a few inches away looking right at her.

"Eeeeee!" In the blink of an eye, Kaga turned her body around and faced the wall.

"What's the matter?"

"Nothing."

"Come on. It's been so long since we've been like this. Do you want me to wash your back?" she couldn't take it anymore. She stood up and stormed out of the bath, leaving Akagi all by herself. Akagi watched her leave the bathroom and couldn't help but feel that she teased her a little too much.

As the day grew late, the sun started to set. Before she returned to her room, Akagi went to grab one more bite to eat. When she returned home, she saw Kaga sitting on the outside porch, staring at the sunset. Her cute little ponytail was blowing with the wind which made Akagi smile. She sneakily made her way across the room, but quickly gave up.

I've teased her enough today. She slid the door open to indicate her presence and sat down next to Kaga.

"Kaga-san, are you okay?"

"Yeah, why wouldn't I be?"

"I just felt that I was being a little mean to you today." Kaga turned her head.

"Of course you weren't being mean. When have you ever been mean?"

"No, it's just that I teased you and I think I made you feel uncomfortable. I'm sorry." Out of nowhere, Kaga grabbed Akagi's hand which made her look up at her.

"You did nothing wrong. I was just acting childish. Please forgive my behavior." Akagi smiled.

"Kaga-san, you're so cute."

"Eehh?" Akagi leaned her head against Kaga's shoulder as the two of them continued to watch the sun set. "Akagi-san, I don't want to get separated from you. We work best when we're together."

"I know, but it's all the admiral's choice. There's nothing we can do once the decision is made. But no matter what, we're still members of Carrier Fleet 1." Akagi smiled and looked at Kaga.

"Haha, you're right. Nothing will ever change that."
