"Are you excited for the eclipse, Danny?" Maddie asked.

"Yep! I'm going to fly up to the moon and push it into the sun!"

Maddie smiled at her five year old son. He was so full of energy it was hard to keep him in one place sometimes. It was only a partial eclipse, but the boy was so excited about anything to do with space she took him to see it. That had been 11 years ago. Danny had grown up, still as excited about space, but to his mother's dismay he was also growing more distant.

Maddie was taking her 16 year old son on a trip to see a full eclipse across the country. She hoped that this would be a nice family bonding trip, and although she could tell the teen was excited, he also seemed worried.

"Danny, what's wrong? You seemed so excited to go on this trip, but you look worried. You know you can talk to me, right?" She saw her son sigh, and answer.

"What do you mean? Of course I'm okay. I'm… just remembering the last time we went out together. To 'Florida'?

She remembered that too. Maddie had been hoping Danny wouldn't bring it up, but the memory was fresh in his mind.

"Well, this time it won't be like that. No suspicious letters from a fake organization. Just a road trip to Oregon. A full lunar eclipse as well! Doesn't that sound fun, sweetie?"

Danny smiled at her. He looked tired, and bags were underneath his eyes. "Yeah".

They arrived at a hill where the eclipse would be viewable from. It would take a while for it to start. But before Maddie could say anything, a small blue wisp came out of her son's mouth. He looked around frantically, as if something was there. It wasn't that cold out, was it?

"I… uh, have to go to the bathroom. Be right back!" He then dashed off before his mother could say anything. Was he normally like this? A beeping sound interrupted her thoughts. She opened her bag to see her ghost alarm going off. And a level seven one too! She ran off towards the ghost, not questioning why the alarm went off so far from Amity Park.

She turned a sharp corner around a building, where her alarm said the ghost was. She slowly moved closer, only to find… Phantom?

"What is that ghost punk doing out here so far from his haunt?" She mused aloud. Suddenly, the ghost in question turned around and looked at her with those shocking green eyes.

"Mo-Maddie! What are you doing out here?" He asked. Maddie smirked.

"Out hunting ghost scum like you. And I brought a new weapon out to play!" She held said weapon up, a pleased look on her face when she saw the fear in the spirit's eyes. "This weapon literally tears ghosts apart molecule by molecule. Exciting, right?" She asked with a gleam in her violet eyes.

The monochrome specter just stared at the gun, seemingly paralyzed with fear.

"I'm going to enjoy this, spook." She took aim, and fired the weapon as Phantom attempted to turn intangible to avoid it. But to no avail. He collapsed in front of her, disintegrating faster than she thought he would. Tears streamed down his face, which was now non existent. Soon, Phantom was gone. Only a small patch of green lingered on the ground.

Smiling, Maddie walked back to the blanket, eager to get back to her son. The eclipse was starting soon, and she knew he wouldn't want to miss it. However, Danny wasn't at the blanket. He wasn't in the outhouse either, it was unoccupied. Walking back, she frowned. Where did Danny go? Maddie decided to just wait for him. He would show up, sooner or later.

After all, it wasn't like he was hurt, or anything. She knew her son could protect himself.
