~Rolling in the Deep~

If there was one thing that calmed Deidara's chaotic personality a bit, it was being out at sea on a cruise ship he didn't have to pay for. Randomly getting a spot on the game show The Price is Right is one of the few things in his life that produced such awesome results. It was a beautiful day filled with sunshine and warmth, Deidara couldn't remember a time he had felt so content.

"Attention passengers. Due to a weather report, we need everyone to evacuate the deck and gather back inside into the storm holds. We are facing a typhoon in less than an hour. Please evacuate the deck."

Seriously? A typhoon? They had to be exaggerating. There was probably some other reason as to why they needed everyone to evacuate the deck. It was only the second day of the cruise! If there was going to be a typhoon, they would have already known about it. So, Deidara decided to ignore the intercom. Besides, he wasn't done with soaking up the sun for the tan he was working on. While people started gathering their things to go back in, Deidara closed stretched and folded his arms behind his head.

"Excuse me sir, you need to evacuate."

Deidara popped open one half-lidded eye at the man who was now blocking the sun a bit. "Yeah, yeah I know. I'll get up in a few minutes."

Still a little worried, the man nodded and caught up with what looked like to be his wife and went inside. Deidara snorted and closed his eye once again. They'd all realize how foolish they were when they saw the sun remained out and the weather as beautiful as ever.

As it got quieter the more people went in, Deidara felt himself drift off into a light snooze, basking in the warmth of the sun. The next thing he knew was the shock of freezing cold water engulfing his body whole.

Deidara gasped and immediately salt water rushed in, oxygen wrangling its way out just to be replaced with sea water. Inwardly cursing his stupidity, Deidara's body struggled in vain to push himself to the surface, but the waves and current were powerful, and played with his body as if it were a rag doll. As Deidara felt himself sink further and further, as the burn from lack of oxygen began to subside, an eerie sense of calm over came him.

Who knew drowning could actually turn out to be a somewhat peaceful death once your body stopped struggling. And as his body relaxed itself while he sank deeper and deeper, Deidara was amazed at how beautiful the underwater world was. So many different shades of blue. The way the little bits of sunlight reflected and bounced off the waters and changed direction with the ripples of the waves.

He wasn't ready to die, but death wasn't so bad if it was as peaceful and as beautiful as this. With final images of the watery depths, Deidara's eyes closed and let himself be drifted away by the sea.

When one drowns to the death, they almost forget the heat of the sun on their skin and how wonderful it feels. Deidara felt the gentle sun rays on his face, and he wondered if he fell asleep while he had been tanning. Slowly his eyes blinked open and he groaned at the brightness of the sun directly above him. The first thing that registered in his mind was that his body felt limp and exhausted to an almost excruciating degree. Never in his life had he felt this fucking sore.

Deidara struggled to at the very least prop himself up on his elbows, but he couldn't manage it at all. Plus it hurt like a bitch to try and move...Just what in the hell happened to him? Deidara turned his head to the side to look for someone on deck to help him up but found he wasn't even on the cruise ship anymore...

In fact...he was on a beach. Confused, Deidara turned his head the other way. He was at the very edge of the water. Mid thigh and downwards was submerged in water. It was then it all came back to him. And Deidara had to admit...

He was a fucking idiot.

Next time he went on a goddam cruise ship, he'd at least pay a little heed to warnings of typhoons. Deidara heaved a sigh and looked back up into the sky. Well it was clear now, just as beautiful right before the storm hit. Somehow his body must have been swept up onto the beach. But then again...that didn't make sense. He remembered, even though his memory was a bit hazy, he still remembered how he had been sinking further and further away from the surface. And Deidara was too far down when his body was finally starting to give in. So how-

"You're awake."

Startled as fuck, Deidara whipped his head in the direction of the voice and practically smacked his face into the sand. He hadn't even seen this man approach let alone hear him. This man with dark features laid beside him, his incredibly dark eyes alighted with interest.

"Your eyes. They're as blue as the sky...just like I thought they would be."

His eyes? The hell kind of encounter was this? This couldn't be his savior...though if he was then at least his savior was hot. In a rather unworldly way. Deidara opened his mouth to speak, and immediately noticed his throat was completely parched and his mouth dry. His voice came out sounding cracked and just downright terrible.

"Who are you? Did you bring me here?"

The man tilted his head slightly, gazing down at him in with a blank expression. "Yes. I brought you here. You nearly drowned."

Well no shit, he knew that much. Deidara's eyes narrowed and if he could snap at the sexy idiot he would, but that would just send him into a coughing fit at how dry his throat and mouth felt.

"Water?" He needed some right now or else he'd continue to sound all weak and helpless, and that was something that would further his irritation to new heights. He was grateful for being saved, so it'd probably be in his best interest to be a little kind to the persn who rescued him.

"There is water, but not the one you can drink. I don't have any of the kind that would quench a human's thirst."

First he was annoyed and a bit distraught there wasn't any water, but now he was curious and a little put off at the way this guy spoke and addressed him as. Human?

The man sighed and folded his arms and rested his chin on them as he just stared at him with a bit of interest. "I don't understand why you humans deem it wise to venture out into the sea, a place you could never fully conquer. Yet you cross it on those boats of yours, only to sometimes get thrown overboard and drown."

Deidara glared and huffed. "Excuse me then for enjoying my vacation out on the sea. I like the ocean, the smell of the salty air, and swimming in it. And stop calling me 'human', it's weird and stupid!"

"You like the ocean even though you almost drowned in it? You are indeed interesting." The man's eyes suddenly became amused. "And what should I call you then? Since I don't have your name, the next best thing is to just address you as your species."

Now this guy just sounded crazy. "My name's Deidara! And why bother addressing a person by their species? No one fucking does that! Least a normal 'human' wouldn't!"

Despite how pissed off he was, Deidara couldn't deny how drop dead sexy that smirk on the man's face was. His heart stuttered in shock at the sight of it.

"It appears you haven't noticed yet, or even figured out just how I managed to save you. Similar as we are, there is still a very distinct difference between us."

As the man said 'distinct difference' Deidara noticed something appear behind the man. At first he thought it was the tail end of a dolphin that got washed up on the beach. But then his gaze traveled lower and lower, as far as he could crane his neck, then everything finally made sense.

"Well shit..."
