Chapter 1

November 29. The day that would make my future. I was about to find my soul mates first words. I wonder where its going to end up. Hopefully it won't be that noticeable. What if his first words are something really embarrassing?

I can't think about anything else right now. My name is Ally Dawson and today i turn 18. Other than being able to vote and finally graduating high school soon, I will find the first words my soul mate will say to me.

I'm not entirely sure how it happens, but I know that the words can appear anywhere. I'm suppose to meet them today, and the tattoo is suppose to help me pick them out. It could be anyone. It's not going to be easy finding them though. Im a small and quiet girl, and I don't want to associate with anyone except my best friend Trish.

I gather up my thoughts and pick myself up from out of bed. The warmth escapes my body, and I am left with goosebumps across my body. It is the first day back from Thanksgiving break and as i mentioned, my birthday. I go into the bathroom and start my morning routine. The shower is started and i stare at myself in the mirror. My eyes scan every visible piece of skin trying to find a trace of my soon to be tattoo.

Nothing.

After i brush my teeth, I hop into the shower.

I rinse my hair and reach for my towel. Again i stare into the mirror, scanning my body up and down.

Nothing

I leave to get dress only to quickly turn around and notice a tattoo on my lower back.

There. Something.

I can't quite make it out until i hop on the sink. The words are so small, written in tight calligraphy. If i look at the right angle in the mirror I read it.

I quietly whisper to myself the words I have been waiting to hear for 18 years, "Music is a curse." I smile slightly to myself but it slowly sinks as i realize that that is the dumbest thing i have ever heard. Of course me, Ally Dawson, gets the stupidest quotes to be tattooed on my body. I quickly forget about it and finish getting ready for school.

I get to school and walk through the plain grey doors after our long break. I see my small Latina friend standing at my locker.

"Ally! Happy Birthday! I got you these cookies from work. I didn't make them, so they are good to eat."

"Thanks Trish. I really appreciate it. This morning kind of blows."

"Oh...is it your tattoo? Did you get it yet or are you upset because you haven't?"

"No, no I got it. It's just what it says. I was kinda hoping it said something different."

"Well lets see it!"

I swiftly pull Trish into the girls bathroom and lift up the back of my shirt.

"Oh Ally! It's not bad at all. It's actually kind of sexy and mysterious if you think about it." Trish says, but I zone out and listen to another conversation about a supposedly new kid. Cassidy and Kira, the two most popular girls talk about a new hunk who apparently made an impression on all the girls. Call me intrigued.

Trish and I leave the bathrooms and make our way to our homerooms. We part ways and i soon slip off. I make my way down to the only classroom i enjoy, the music room. Its my favorite part of the school. I go there and write in my book and then play some piano. I'm always the only one in there. There is a bare minimum of people who even know about it.

I make my way down the hall as i hear the faint sound of music coming from the other side of the door. "Who is in my room?", i think to myself.

I barg in, not caring who is on the otherside. What i see though, is not what i expect. Sitting at the piano is a tall, blonde, hazel eye beachboy sitting on my bench. My bench! What does this guy think he is doing!

Apparently, i stood there for quite some time because before i knew it, a tall red head who i had seen in the halls was telling me to close my mouth.

"Huh?" is all I can make out.

"I said, you're going to catch flies"

"Oh, Oh" I blush bright red, "Um, yeah i guess that would make sense, but what doesn't make sense is why you are in my room. Using my instruments. Sitting on my bench!"

"Oh i wasn't aware you owned this part of the school", his blonde friend snickers. I glare at him and say,

"I...I don't, but no one ever comes in here."

"Ah yes, well you see my friend Austin is new here," This is the new kid…"He is really into music, so I brought him here."

"Well if you could leave… like now... that would be good"

The blonde boy gets up from the piano and walks toward his friends. As the two friends walk out, the blonde boy brushes past me and say, "I guess music is just a curse." And with that, they walk out into the deserted hall.

I'm left with my mouth hung open once again because I had just found my soulmate. And i wasn't so sure I was happy with it.
