I stretch out my arms in the living room of our house. My twin brother, Paul sits to the left of me eating some stale bread with butter. Though our family is rich, Paul doesn't like to show it. He wears old and worn out clothes, and eats plain food. Mum is making lunch, lobster bisque with garlic bread, my favorite!
"Rosey, Paul, can you come over here for a second?" Mum calls us over to the kitchen.
"Mum, what is it?" Asks Paul
"I have to tell you something," Mum looks around to see if anyone is listening, "Do you know about the new ship that they built, The R.M.S Titanic. We are going to sail on that ship and make a new life in America!" Mum finishes and gets up from crouching, rubbing her hands along her dress to get the dust off.
"Wait you mean that we are leaving here, for good? Why didn't you tell us this before?" Paul yells at Mum. Mum stars into Pauls eyes and walks her way back to the kitchen to get back to the food. Whenever Mum stars at someone in the eye, that means to normally stop yelling or no talking back. I sit back down on the couch, straightening my back. What is so good about America that is making my family want to move, I think.
The door bursts open as my older brother, William walks in.
"Mum, look what I found on the door step! It's a package. They said it was tickets to something!" William smiles, but that smile is taken away as Mum snatches away the box and puts it in the cabinet, way out of our reach. Only Mum, Paul, and I knows what the tickets are for.
I wait there, on the couch for Dad, who is the only person who I am really fond of!
I wait and wait and until he doesn't come.
I get up from the couch and walk toward the closet, yanking my silk, wool coat off the brass hanger. I turn the knob, ignoring Mum's voice and breath in the fresh air. I stick my hands in my pockets to keep it from getting frozen as I head up through the alley and to an old, unstable house. I start to sprint to the back so no one will notice me and climb up the brown ladder that leads to the highest window on the house.
I climb into the window and seat myself on a rocking chair. From the folds of my dress, I pull out my diary. Blue and purple tread in the cover of the diary and the pages are stained with tea and blood. This diary was given by my Great-Great Grandmother when she was in America. Throughout the pages are neatly written words by my Great-Great Grandmother about the time when the Revolutionary War was going to take place. I haven't finished reading through all her entries yet, but I'm close. I flip through the pages and come upon a folded page where I left off and start to read.

Dear Diary,
Today I had the best day ever! After school, me and Elizabeth went to the a store and bought an early birthday present for Mum. She is going to love it. We got Mum a stunning blue sapphire dress, and near the U neck is white ripples made out of cloth. It is gorgeous! In the night, we are having a big party Mum invited so many people it is like she invited the whole Boston. I hope that my friend Dellia will come, I haven't seen her in a year since she moved to Pennsylvania. Anyway, good night Diary!
From,
Dakota Anne
