"That was Angel"

"Oh; oh right well um..."

"I going to meet him half way"

"Of course, when are you going?"

"Now"

"Oh yes, of course, We'll look after Dawn"

"Take as much time as you want Buff"Xanders voice was oddly soothing.

The sun-roof was down, and the windows open, a cool breeze refreshed her face as she cruised through a quaint fishing town, a couple of miles north of Sunnydale. Anticipation was the greatest part of a treat? That was shit - it was killing her.

"C'mon, c'mon" She half moaned into the breeze. Xanders car. Why wasn't it girl friendly?

"Automatic my ass"

Anyway, was this a treat? Angel had requested to see her. He even used the word need, but then when you were in a true, undying, forbidden love relationship; that didn't mean much did it. Forbidden fruit always tastes sweeter, something told her this was going to be pretty sweet. But things had changed. She had died. He knew about this so was he over her, 'She's dead, I'm dead, theres nothing left'. Or did he just need to put his mind at rest, know that she was safe. This was new territory.

The sky was a dull orange glow now, Buffy closed the sun-roof as she felt a slight chill run through her spine. Windows wound up, she pulled into a Starbucks, and pulled into park. Nausea ticked her senses like a feather. She wanted to throw up. The clock read 19:42.

"Shit, late"

Buffy ran into the Shop.

"How may I help you?" A young dude of about Buffys age asked. He had a maine of blonde shaggy hair, and cool blue eyes.

"Could I get a Mocha Chino please"

"Sure. Hey do I know you from someplace?"

"No" Buffy replied, in a superior tone to this come on by some surf shack guy.

"You sure cause maybe, y'know we could go out someplace in 5 when i get off, or just, y'know, hang."

"No thanks, just the beverage, to go, quickly" Buffy replyed with a sheepish smile.

"Fair enough, if you're in a rush, maybe come back some other time. Where you going anyway babe?"

"To meet a tall handsome man who kicks peoples asses for calling me babe"

With that she turned on her heel and trotted across the parking lot. Wow. Where had that come from? Who cared. It wasn't likely she'd ever visit here again and her brain wasn't in co-ordination with her mouth. Angel wasn't exactly a man, but he had many masculine qualities, which included being a nice man who was tall and handsome.

Shut up brain.

She was doing 60 now, headlights a'blaze. The road twisted away from the coast and she followed it for 10 minutes then turned left. Her butterflys were doing circus aerobics. She came to a dark lay-by on the top of a cliff-face. She pulled in and her headlights reflected in the sheen of a cool, black surface. A convertable car. A dark figure hung his head whilst leaning on the side of he car, then looked up into the headlights.

Buffy turned the key and the headlights went off, under the gray gloom of the near-night sky, she pulled the key from the ignition.
