Mean Comments vs Watermelons You are probably concerned by looking at the title of this story, but I assure you, I am not overly insane. Just understand, not everyone does. This is a serious story with a somewhat hilarious analogy. If you post a mean comment on someone's story on Fanfiction, someone's status on Facebook, someone's video on YouTube, or anywhere else, it is rather similar to dropping a watermelon out of a window. Please allow me to explain. When you post a comment on Fanfiction, Facebook, or Youtube, you could be offending anyone in the world. Let's say you live in New York City. In case you didn't know this(although I don't know if that is possible), it is a very crowded city. It is the week of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade(this makes NYC more crowded than usual). You live in a small apartment with a window directly above above where the parade passes, but very high up. If you decided to drop a watermelon out your window, you could hit almost anyone below, and chances are that you will hit more than one person. If you got caught for dropping the watermelon, chances are that you would be in trouble with the NYPD(New York Police Department). But, just because you are online, doesn't mean you can't get caught for being mean. People can report you at the click of their mouse, so in a way, it could even be easier to get caught. You really can get in trouble especially if you post bad words or anything inappropriate. Also, maybe someone aspires to be a writer someday and they use Fanfiction as their practice. If you post and offensive comment that puts down their personal art, you could totally ruin their future. The bottom line is DON'T PUT DOWN OTHER PEOPLE'S ART. They put a lot of time into it and I know I wouldn't like it if someone insulted my hobby. Unless you want to throw a watermelon at the cops, I wouldn't do that.
