Dirty Little Secret
"So, how long have you known about them?"
Having Casey know about the turtles was a big risk, but at least he got along with most of them, especially Raph. Being the only human on the team could get lonely at times.
"About a year," April mused. "The Krang took my dad, and they were helping me out ever since. That's how we became friends..."
April examined Casey. His hockey gear was changed into crude armor. At least Team Turtle now had one more fighter on their side.
Ever since tutoring Casey, April thought he was just another dumb jock. During their time together, she realized there was more to Casey than just hockey sticks and scoring goals.
"Hey, so, um... about the whole turtle thing..." she began, not knowing how to put it into words. "I'm glad you didn't freak out about them."
"Freak out?" smiled Casey. "I'm living a dream here...! Sure, everything was a total surprise, and the rat scared me a little (no offense) but they are pretty cool... and Raph's totally awesome."
She smiled to herself. At least she and the turtles could trust someone. Who knows. If Casey could put up with them... maybe more people in the world could. The turtles and Splinter couldn't hide down in the sewer for the rest of their lives.
"Just so you know, Red..." he began. "You can totally trust me with this."
Her brow cringed. Was he talking about homework or was it something else? "About what?"
"You don't have to worry about me telling anyone about the turtles," he smiled. "Your secret stays with me."
A smile drew upon her lips. Besides the attitude, deep down, he really was a decent guy.
"Thanks..." she breathed. "The place can get a little crazy, but I can see you're prepared for anything."
"I was made for his...!" his hands were in the air. She felt a chuckle left her system. "And they are pretty cool... Raph and I seem to get along."
Ever since the two hot heads met, they were inseparable as glue.
"You've seen what people did to those mutated by the Kraang formula," she began, holding herself. "If they found the turtles and Splinter, they'd be locked and experimented on. I don't want that to happen to any of them..."
She felt his hand on her shoulder. "I promise you... I'll fight and protect them no matter what."
Another smile was on her face. "They did so much for me and my dad. They may be... different, but they're good deep down."
"April?" That was one of the rare times he said her name. "I'm glad that you can trust me with your secrets."
